BU or UCLA

I’m really oblivious to which one I should choose. I’m going to major in Chemistry in both, but I haven’t really heard about how BU’s science department is like. I know UCLA’s science and research facilities are loaded. They’re completely different atmosphere too, one’s cold and one’s just regular California sun. My friend said I’m better off with a private school education, since they are bond to have better networking or whatnot, but I am clueless when it comes to the whole college system. If it weren’t for her I wouldn’t even have applied to privates, since I was so oblivious. Input, please guys/gals?

Thanks for lending an ear/eye.

hmmmmmm tough choice....it depends if you'd want to move clear across the country......UCLA is an excellent school, soo personally, i'd choolse UCLA if i lived out there and wanted to study some type of science...... I am not yet at BU so my input is very limited...but i'd go to UCLA for CHemistry..but once again..just take it for what its worth

UCLA is much better.

UCLA, especially if you live in California.

i'm from socal. i would choose bu just because i would want to have a real college experience of independence. and bu is a great school too. but it depends.
you'll have a great time at both schools but ucla... is more like, you will need a car to get around as opposed to bu where you wont.

i disagree about the networking thing, i think you can have positive and negative experiences at both public and private schools. i think ucla and bu are on about the same level on that one.
the weather would be a major factor for me. how affected are you by it being cold and grey all the time? bu seems like it would be a good choice because of independence and personal growth and all that. and im sure their chem department is good enough.

UCLA. It's obvious...

Pretty much equal unless you feel like I do about the vibe in L.A. (a negative for me)
BU rocks.

UCLA is a better school. But it's filled with overcompetitive, overachieving asians.....if you know what i mean............
i say bu is much less competitive and u will be able to set urself apart from the others instead of being a mediocre student at UCLA

o_O..i think she's decided on UCLA already ;-)
