I was accepeted into both Boston University and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I want to double major in communications and marketing. Which one do you think has a better communications school? Which one would you choose and why?

Thanks for your help.

I would choose UNC all financial aid being equal. It is a tremendous school on par with any of the top publics. UCLA, Virginia, Michigan, and Berkeley are the only schools I would choose over it and that would completely depend on financial aid.

UNC is a better school in general, and has a better communications school. I would choose UNC.

Communications is a strength at BU, can’t speak to UNC. Business school is definitely higher rated at UNC.

Something to check with each college is how easily a dual major in Communications and Marketing is. Both are in different schools on campus raising questions about whether you can take classes at both schools and whether core required classes for each major can be accomplished or even successfully schedule. Perhaps a Major/Minor is more feasible.

What do you think about both schools campuses and locations? I was able to visit BU and I loved it. Unfortunately I couldn’t visit UNC and I am worried about going to a college town because I’ve lived my whole life in a city. What I don’t like about BU is that it doesn’t have as good as a reputation as UNC. How important is this?

UNC!! unless you really love the cold and the boston area (and its people)…UNC is one of the most beautiful schools ive EVER been to (and i’ve been to a TON!) my brother just gradated from there in 08 and i visited upto 10 times in the last 4 years. I am a junior and college and am extremely jealous of everyone who goes to chapel hill. The south is gorgeous, chapel hill is gorgeous, the tradition of basketball is amazing, and the people are very very attractive! i grew up in dallas, texas so i do understand the city thing…but chapel hill is not a college town that is lacking city life. there is good shopping, tons of restaurants, and a busy busy atmosphere. i personally cant stand the boston people/the north so i may be a lot biased…but there is something about chapel hill that is just breathtaking. i mean if you look at the post about “best college towns” it’s listed in almost EVERYONE’s top schools! it’s one of the hardest schools to get into out of state (harder than IVY league) and it’s a great school! UNC ALL THE WAY

and i had a friend transfer to UNC for their communications school–i’ve heard great things!

I personally like the Boston area much more than Chapel Hill, but that’s just my opinion

As far as academics goes, UNC no question.

a good friend of mine transferred to chap hill and he said he made a good choice… UNC all the way!
