BU RISE 2017 (Boston University RISE summer program)

Hi! Is there anyone that is applying/applied for Boston University’s RISE program? I applied for the psychology internship and am wondering if others are also interested in the program. Also, if anyone else has had experience with the program, please share your experiences, such as the dorms, other participants, the faculty, projects, and so on (and may your stats too?) Thank you very much! : )

My cousin did RISE last year for astronomy. She didn’t have an amazing experience… it wasn’t the most organized program and the helpfulness/enthusiasm of people’s mentors was rather hit/miss. She said she kind of wished she had just gotten a job.

The dorms were ok; it’s in the dorms used for freshman housing, so liveable but not the top. She texted me pics of her food a lot so I think it was good?

Oh yeah, and she went to HCSSIM summer 2015. She said she liked it a lot more.

Her stats were high (SAT 2200-2300) and as of now she’s a freshman at a highly ranked LAC with a friend she actually made at RISE

*edit: words

Accepted! But I don’t know if I should go because it’s not my first choice and my first choice decisions come out in late April

@hani1120 Congratulations! Did you apply in the early application? Because I applied by the February 28th deadline and haven’t gotten a response.

@probablyneedhelp I submitted the application mid-February, so I don’t think it’s early? I guess people who applied to internship would probably wait longer cuz they have to match you with a professor…

@hani1120 Yeah that makes sense. Thanks!

@hani1120 oh, so did you apply to the practicum?

@talkingtrees Yes

I got into the Internship track!! I’m so excited!

Hey guys I got accepted into Practicum and I was wondering if you know if they’re less selective with practicium. Also does everyone have to pay 500$? I was just wondering? Thanksss!

They are less selective with practicum I believe, but it’s still selective and a great program I heard. I don’t know about the $500.

Also did anyone else get an email saying your acceptance is not confirmed because they’re looking for a mentor? Does this mean I got in but they’re having trouble placing me or that I basically didn’t get in?

@stolbr I got an email saying that too! They said, “While we cannot guarantee a placement, we are actively seeking a match for you and we will contact you as soon as your status changes.”

same.

I got the same email too. Does anyone know what it means?

lol I feel like I got rejected I haven’t gotten my letter yet

@probablyneedhelp what field of study did you apply for for internship?

does anyone know why I haven’t gotten an email yet? Also, could anyone who has gotten in post stats?

@riyatriya I got into Practicum as well, and they asked me to pay the $500

@lanpace did you apply to practicum or did you apply to internship and got put into practicum as a second choice?
