My daughter had won several medals from regionals and states Science Olympiad competitions, where she competed in similar environmental science related events and has been a head coach of an elementary Science Olympiad team since freshman year. She has lots of volunteer experience in teaching and coaching.
Her GPA is 4.0UNW and 4.375W.
She took all the highest level science courses her school offered including AP Physics C (M, E+M). On her application, she focused on talking about her AP Environmental Science class and showed her deep interest in the field.
Though her SAT isn’t superb–1520-her essays were well-written and I presume good letters of recommendation from her teachers were also a factor.
They said mid-May, so I assume around next week-ish would be the last batch. From what I’ve heard, BU has finals soon, and once those are over, the professors will be busy grading, leading to less matching possibly.
I’ve been matched recently despite getting rejected everywhere else, so don’t lose hope, but also try not to gamble with RISE matching.
Thanks. What do you mean by gambling on BU RiSE? Down to two- already admitted in Pioneer and need to make decision today while no matching confirmation yet from BU. Quite a dilemma!
Yeah that’s what I meant by “gambling”. RISE may be a better program (assumption, of course), but worst case scenario is rejecting your program and failing to match, since matching isn’t 100% guaranteed.
My understanding from conversations with Rise is that all matching will be complete by the end of this upcoming week (5/20), and that if you were not matched you will be notified.
