BU SMED vs Case PPSP

May 1 decision date is fast approaching.
Still needing help between Case PPSP (1/2 tuition) and BU SMED.
Opinion from those now/was in the programs or parents with experience much appreciated.

@golfblackhole, I certainly vote for Case Western Reserve PPSP due to its very good research ranking and above all good fin aid. I do not even go near BU SMED due to its exorbitant price tag.

However, I am not in medical area but simply learning more about bs/md programs to aid my child’s decision-making in near future. In fact, I learnt a lot from your well thought out posts in regards to medical profession and thanks for that.

I can’t speak much to the Case program, but if you have any questions about BU, feel free to ask me. I’ve loved the experience so far and have had many opportunities for research and such when I sought them out as well.

In terms of financial aid for future applicants to BU smed: BU will give you aid if you require need-based aid and are accepted to smed. In terms of merit based aid, yes, you are more likely than not to receive none. However, there are a number of people who get scholarships for 10k, and some (including me) who are fortunate enough to receive full tuition scholarships. So don’t let the cost alone deter you from at least applying and seeing if you get in + get aid.

Good luck with your decision!

@johnstoops, I was under the impression that BU won’t dole out much aid - either need based or merit aid. Glad to know that they do provide aid to some extent. Thanks for the information.
