I got into BU and WUWSTL’s medical programs.
I would like some advice on deciding.
WashU’s requirements are 3.8 gpa and 36 mcat.
BU’s are 3.2 gpa and 28 mcat.
My thoughts are WashU’s med school is amazing, but i don’t know how hard it is to get a 3.8 and 36…
Thanks and I would appreciate any help!

If it helps, the financial aid is about the same for both schools.

bump!!!

Actually, starting next year, students in BU’s Seven Year Liberal Arts/Medical Education Program will be required to score 30 on the MCAT.

There are obviously a lot of factors to consider in choosing which program you are going to attend? Which curriculum interests you more? Which has more flexibility? Closer interaction with professors? Which campus do you prefer? Where can you see yourself for the next 7+ years? Good luck with your decision!

also look at the medical schools and see which program you feel better about. i am in an early acceptance program for bu med (not smed but mmedic) and i have loved the opportunity. as a senior in undergrad, im taking biochemistry at the med school so that my first semester as a med student ill only have anatomy for my general classes. i don’t know much about washu, but i can tell you that, at bu, the early programs are all about easing the transition into med school, and the reason they have a lower gpa and mcat requirement is because they know all the smeds are good students (otherwise they wouldn’t have been accepted) and that they’re going to feel a lot of pressure over the next 7 years, so they don’t want 1 bad semester with a 3.0 to kill you (you can get a 3.4 the next semester to even out to a 3.2 for the year). i highly recommend bu, and bu med also has wonderful research opportunities and the option for international rotations. i’m hoping to do a 4-6 week rotation in my 4th year in paris :-D.

Your question confuses me. You want to know where to go based on the medical school early admit program or the medical school? I hear from kids that Wash U has a pretty pressured, competitive pre-med track. All pre-med tracks are stressful but I don’t know if that’s your question. If you’re talking about medical school, BU is in Boston, which is one of the top two educational/research medical centers (with Chicago), and is highly regarded. Wash U’s medical school is also well regarded, but I don’t know if that’s your question. St. Louis sucks but Wash U has a more college campus feel, but I don’t know if that’s your question.

Also, it’s pretty darn tough to maintain a 3.8…
