BU Sports life

I know hockey is very big, and if I end up going here I will definitely give it a try.

What about the pro sports? I’m a HUGE baseball fan(Go Cubs!), and I was wondering how much BU students care about the Red Sox. I know that there’s a little of everything at BU, but I want to know if these baseball fans are tough to find, or if BU students are present at some baseball games. I LOVE baseball, so I don’t stop caring about it just because it’s the offseason. I think it’s always nice to have people to talk to who actually care about baseball.

I even like football and going to see Tom Brady once in a while would be fun too. :)

There are tons of baseball fans (red sox). Fenway park is less than 5 minutes away from campus (especially Warren Towers, the frosh dorm). It's easy to buy tix on the day for sox (if it's not a big game, like against the yankees) 1for bleacher tickets etc.

Baseball isn't just big at BU. It's huge in Boston. When I lived in Warren my freshman year (when the Sox won the series) I could hear the games when my window was open.

Believe me, you would be in good company as a baseball fan.

You see a lot of Yankee fans too because BU draws a lot from NY and NJ and that part of CT. I can tell you that if the Sox make the playoffs, there's baseball well into October, which means Kenmore is a zoo all through the beautiful fall.

The parade when they won in 2004 was amazing. People 10 deep all along Boylston and then all the way down to the Charles.

If you are interested in pro sports, Boston is a great city. Heck, the Revolution has been in the MLS final for 3 straight years (lost them all) and Beckham and LA Galaxy will be here August 12.

Because so many students are from New York-New Jersey and that area, there are lots of Yankee fans.

baseball is the most talked-about sport in boston. everywhere i go, whenever someone asks where i'm from and i say new jersey, their next question is whether i'm a yankees or red sox fan. (after i say i don't care about baseball, the conversation stops.. haha. but i'm sure if u had a preference, a nice talk would follow.)

The marathon is Monday. Every Patriots Day, which is a holiday here - along with a thing called Evacuation Day, which is when the British left after the Colonials pointed cannon at them from what is now Southie. BU students volunteer. Or they can hang out and party. The race actually runs down Beacon Street through Brookline into Kenmore and then to the finish.

Honestly, it's the kind of event that most colleges would trumpet as a big deal but there are so many events in Boston that it's just another. (And BU is lousy at publicity.)
