I’m applying as a transfer to BU for Fall of 2014. I’m currently a freshman, and my first semester went way better than I’d expect it to be.
I’m applying into the College of Arts and Sciences.
After my final exams, my average GPA is about a 3.7 (4.0 scale).
This semester, I’ve taken College Writing I, Intro. to Psych., Communications Media, and Intermediate Spanish I.
Next semester, I’m taking College Writing II, Principles of Sociology, Intro. Stats., and Intermediate Spanish II.
I feel that if I keep on putting in the hard work, it’ll pay off, and I’ll still be able to maintain my current GPA or higher.

I didn’t do so well in high school, and I felt like I didn’t try to the best of my ability. My final senior year GPA was a 3.5 (5.0 scale) and I had crap SAT/ACT test scores. I applied to BU as a senior and got rejected.
I visited BU for a transfer session, and they stressed that test scores are not required, and they want to see the progress one has made from high school to college (if applied in high school).

I know that BU’s transfer acceptance rate is very low because it is so competitive, but BU is still my top choice university, and I don’t think that I would stop trying to get in if I were to get rejected this time… But I don’t want to jinx it.
What do you guys think? Do I even stand a chance?

Hi! I’m in the same boat as you haha I applied to BU as a senior and was rejected. I’m a freshman in college and I plan on applying to transfer for fall 2014. My high school GPA was 3.79/4.2 and college gpa right now is 3.85 so were in a pretty similar situation. What do you wanna study at BU? And the transfer acceptance rate is around 20-30% right? Yeah that’s pretty low but were both doing better so it’s definitely doable!

Same here! Transferring after one year and my first semester went great (4.0 GPA) still not sure about my chances though considering my SAT and HS transcript.

Hi! I’m also transferring next fall but I will be starting my junior year. Any advice, opinion, suggestion, ANYTHING about housing, on or off campus?? which are the best on-campus dorms???

Hey guys I thought I’d revive this. I am also applying Fall’14 (It would be my second soph semester) for CAS(international relations)
I had terrible high school grades 3.0/4.0 , but 4.0/4.0 in college- 32 finished, 12 units in progress. Work(ems)/internship/honor society/the usual extra stuff. You guys think 44 in progress with a 4.0 kind of pushes the low high school gpa aside?

And Olo59u don’t worry about SAT. You don’t have to send it in if you don’t want to.

Glad I found this page! Applying for Fall 2014 as well… Was accepted to BU out of high school but went somewhere else and then studied abroad for a year so I will applying (hopefully) as a junior. Anyone know how good they are at accepting transfer credits? I have a lot of AP credit from high school as well… Really would not want to have to repeat anything.

Hey laurenkes! my buddy transferred to BU Fall 2013 and i think out of his 80 units- putting him at incoming junior second semester they gave him incoming sophomore second semester standing. He transferred into SMG and they made him take one of the core smg classes(i don’t know which one it is) before he could take any upper division smg classes. So his incoming semester was basically that one core class+3 electives hah… I don’t know about the AP credit though
What are you applying for?

I’m currently a freshman at College of the Holy Cross looking to transfer to the college of general studies.
Had one pretty rough class which ended in a C+ which put my gpa at a 2.75 for first semester.
However doing a lot better for midterm grades.
Did a decent job in highschool a ton of extracurriculars, community service, and varsity sports.
Submitted my app mid feb, and awaiting my final mid term grades so i can send those in!

Hi, guys. I am international student in Umass Boston now. Applying BU SMG
HS GPA 3.43
College GPA 3.64 with 30 credits
Just submit my application today

Hi guys! I’m applying to BU as a transfer student as well. In high school, I wanted to go to BU but didn’t think I had the grades & had some family issues that kept me at home. I’m so anxious about my application, though, I thought I’d post here to at least know some other people in the same boat!
My HS GPA was 3.4/4.0 scale
Didn’t do a ton of EC, but did do photography/painting outside of school, had a job, and was president of french club.
My College GPA is 4.0/4.0 scale with 28 credits as of now. (I will have 44 after this semester)
I volunteered at the library for a year before it began to interfere with school, I work part-time, and I still do photography and painting on the side.
My SAT/ACT scores weren’t so hot, so I feel for any of you who said the same! I have terrible test anxiety when it comes to standardized testing, so hopefully they don’t focus too much on that!
Good luck, everyone! This is a stressful time but I’m sure everything will work out – let’s hope our futures involve BU acceptance letters!

Hey Greatcatsby, that’s a pretty cool name btw xD. Your high school grades are definitely stronger than mine and I totally know about how anxious you are right now. I actually applied to another school last semester and was rejected and I think I was checking College Confidential like every thirty minutes. My advice would be that once you have sent everything in, not to worry about your “chances” or anything of the sort because it’s out of our control. But I do hope we are all accepted :]

Hey guys! I’m so happy i found this thread. I applied to BU last year ED and got rejected with an 88 unweighted GPA and a 103 weighted GPA my SAT scores aren’t great (570M, 570W and 510CR) so I’m happy they aren’t considered this time around. I applied to BU as a transfer with a 3.7 GPA as a bio major but I applied to the school of general studies this time around which hopefully will help, I’m SO nervous I hope we all get accepted. Does anyone know the acceptance rate of transfer students?
