Hey guys! This is my first time finding this group actually! Congrats on everyone that has already heard as I am eager to know as well! I am from northern VA and go to george mason. Currently a freshman biology major looking to transfer as a first semester sophomore. My grandpa went to BU and being in Boston for college is just unreal. So ideal! Could you guys give me opinions on my stats?!? I’m so nervous. Also I’m applying to the Sargent college

HS GPA: 3.71
college GPA: 3.91
Extracurriculars in college: Armenian community involvement, women’s club soccer, relay for life planning committee
Extracurriculars in HS: JV soccer, travel club soccer, gymnastics manager, volleyball team, piano, fellowship of Christian athletes, Armenian youth organizations

I was also in the national honor society in high school and joined the alpha Linda delta freshman honor society at mason as well as the national society for collegiate scholars.

I keep checking the applicant link for a decision but no news!

Also, I’m afraid that if I do get in because of my parents income I won’t get enough financial aid! My mom makes like 95k and my dad 120k. However my parents are divorced but I still had to provide both parents incomes which was really annoying. and my brother is also in college and I have a grandparent living at my home.

Based on my stats above and my financial situation how much do you guys think ill receive? :/

@laurenkes SMG is different than other schools, so I’m not sure. But for SMG they just put random classes to fulfill my other requirements. A lot of courses weren’t needed though (because I took 86 credits). So all my GE/electives are good. All I have to do is take all my business courses to graduate (which is actually annoying and I’ll graduate a year late).

@Transferr159 Honestly, I don’t think much. Transfers don’t receive as much as Freshman admits, however they do give out aid for those who need it, as well as through merit-based. Just wait and find out, and talk with your family.

With all this financial aid talk I wonder if education is really worth it (compared to other, cheaper schools). My family drops like 75k a year (which im thankful for), but like I could have gotten a similar education with 10-30k at a state/uc.

BTW guys keep in mind that your stats may differ than others, but a lot of things are considered. I really depends on the school you apply for, how many credits you already took, your GPA, everything (so don’t be discouraged). You’ll all find out soon enough.

Did anyone hear anything today? My family is going on vacation and I’d really like to not be stressed about this the entire time haha

@greatcatsby965 Nothing yet, even my financial material still shows not complete. Maybe good news will come tomorrow.

Congratulations to everyone else! I’ve been accepted as well Good luck to everyone who has not yet heard. I am super excited!

Do you guys think it’s too late to call and ask them to bump up my application to be read quicker? Cuz I have a May 1st deadline for another school and I really wanna weight out my options ya know?

^If you tell them that, I’m sure they’ll agree to expedite your admissions decision. It may be completed already and they just haven’t sent it yet.

Hi Y’all,

I just got accepted into CAS for Art History.

My parents make around 200k/yr combined. However, we still have a mortgage, I have a younger brother going into college in 2 years and obviously the usual expenses.

I only got a total of 5k in loans from the govt.
No transfer scholarship for Academics/Merit
my cum gpa is a 3.5 and my current is 3.89
Im in the honors program at my CC and in Phi Theta Kappa.
Im in a few clubs as well, recording secretary of one!

This really stinks… BU was my top choice and now I dont know if I can go… my parents cant shell out 120k for me to go…

Any advice?? Anyone stuck in the same boat?

-E

@transferr159 I tried to call them 5 times this morning, but no one answer the phone.

@nydallas Have you looked into all possible scholarship opportunities? Although, I don’t think it would dent the 120k a whole lot. What is your target tuition now, 100k, 90k?

Did you guys get emails when your decision was posted?

I am so nervous for the lack of news, but congratulations on your acceptances guys!

You get an email when your decision is available

They finally removed the requirement for midterm grades off of my applicantlink - hopefully that means it’s been reviewed and I’ll be receiving a decision soon.

@Nostalgia14 I asked them about Phi Theta Kappa scholarship since I was inducted after March 1st (BU’s deadline for PTK scholarship application) and they said I am not eligible to apply.

My parents said they would be able to provide funds at 80k total (40k/yr)…
really upset bc I believe BU had best opportunities for me

Any advice??

Accepted to the College of Arts & Sciences!! Didn’t get an email, though. Just logged into my ApplicantLink and saw that a decision was available.

^Congratulations!!
Do you know what time it was made available or no?

@nydallas have you thought about other organizations outside of school? Maybe places like Rotary- https://www.rotary.org/en ? I haven’t really done research into scholarships, but I do know a lot of private organizations give them, my friend knows better @626transfer
