Northeastern is releasing its first round of transfer acceptances today so hopefully BU will do the same - lets hope for tomorrow or at least next week!

Hey guys I just got in!!! Apparently BU is indeed releasing some admissions decisions today!! Good luck to everyone.

Congrats man, I hope we all get ours soon too.

@eviedk congrats! I’m not sure if you’ve posted before, but when did you apply?

Also got in but my aid is terrible. Last year I was admitted as a Freshman with a financial aid package of 42,500–broken up between loans and a 32,500 grant based on my merit/need. This year my aid is 30,500 total.

Congrats!! I really hope that I hear back soon too!

@AdoddProductions is that aid per year or total for 4 years?

Per year

I mean, it’s not horrible financial aid in general but for my situation it is.

Thats really good. Brings down the tuition substantially. I would consider yourself lucky - a lot of transfer students get nothing.

just got accepted to the school of education! transferring from American University :)

Accepted – School of Communication – $15,500/year financial aid package. My family makes 100k/year and my older brother is already in graduate school. Yay.

After looking at my financial aid award, I looked into things and found something off of BU’s USNews page: “At Boston University, 44.2 percent of full-time undergraduates receive some kind of need-based financial aid and the average need-based scholarship or grant award is $25,047.”
Yea, with less than half of undergraduate class receiving less than half the total cost of attendance as award packages, how can BU NOT be a school for rich kids? I was already not looking forward to the tiny campus along railroad tracks, so with this, yea, there’s no way I’m going. Soon-to-be-good news for any one who really wants to go, can afford it, and is on the waitlist.

For everyone else who loves BU, just to be clear, I’m not bashing on BU, just BU’s aid and statistics and other characteristics that do not sit well with my preferences.

@AdoddProductions how much does your family make per year to for you to receive so much financial aid?

@jbones157 I submitted my app. at the very very end of February, just before the deadline. Good luck to everyone, if anyone has any questions feels free to ask.

@eviedk did you have everything in before march 1st? Or did you have transcripts, etc. arrive after? I submitted my application Jan. 29th but my transcripts took forever and didn’t arrive until March 13th. Just trying to figure out when I will hear back.

Oh yea and for others’ information (if they really wanted to know), my $15,500 in financial aid consisted of 5,500 in federal loans and a merit scholarship in the Dean’s $10,000 scholarship. As far as I’m concerned, BU didn’t give me any actual need-based financial aid, they just “let” me take out loans from the government – which in my opinion, is complete BS. My EFC was calculated at 20k, so obviously, I’m really pissed. They expect me to pay more than twice what I would have been able to afford.

@klgood I had everything in and was told I was complete as soon as I got my applicant link login info. However, a week or so later it changed and it was requesting a transcript from a community college where I gained credits through a program I was enrolled in for two classes during high school. Also, I took this semester off, so I had no mid-term report. My applicant link kept continued to ask for it but I called and they told me to simply ignore the message and that I was complete (this was around March 15th). My applicant link FINALLY said I was complete about two-three weeks ago even though I had actually been complete for quite some time.

ACCEPTED!!!

I got in!!! I also got 30,500 in aid.

Mine keeps asking for midterm grades too but I took this semester off… I have called a zillion times but it still says it’s missing. @

@eviedk ^^

@klgood same thing with me but with another form. The second time I called I asked if the person I was talking to could change it there, and she did.
