Theman777, If you looked through collegebound41 posts she is not affiliated with Northeastern as a matter of fact she is a rising senior for high school. BU and Northeastern average 50% are comparable. BC is clearly higher than BU and Northeastern. How can you say they are similar? BC for undergrad is 12x more difficult to get into than BU…remember it has a 51% rate of acceptance.

Ok superstar - I correct myself, but to be fair it was an assumption and I didn’t take the time to look in depth into his/her posts. But in no way did I ever say that the two schools were similiar. In fact, I was leaning more towards them focusing on different fields. One in business and the other in sciences and engineering.

BC is definitely harder to get into - statistics don’t lie. But its not 12X harder - in reality its really only 2x harder (BC is 26% acceptance rate).

Collegebound41 is ■■■■■■■■ everywhere between here, Northeastern and BC thread. Definitely trying to cause some mischief!

BC, BU, and I will throw in NEU too because everyone keeps bringing it up are all great universities but are all a little different even though they get a lot of overlaps in applicants. BC is hands down the most selective but that doesn’t mean that everyone who gets into BC and BU picks BC hands down. Some go for BU, right in the middle of Boston in a great location, not affiliated with a religion, more academic options (such as engineering; also has one of the strongest communication schools in the country), and a larger student body. It is just a different experience. Northeastern is extremely similar to BU, the main difference is that they have co-ops and students graduate in 5 years typically (which appeals to some people and not to others). I am a rising senior and if I were admitted to all three, the choice would be very difficult for me. I would either choose BU or BC (unless i received more money from NEU).

BC is more selective mostly because it’s smaller. BU has to admit a large number to fill classes. Compare Michigan - where my family went. Higher prestige by far but similar yields. Of the really large schools, the standout in selectivity is NYU and that’s mostly a function of location, being in lower Manhattan, close to the business centers, etc. of NY.

As I’ve said many times, pick a school based on fit not on stupid, inaccurate and misleading statistics that you don’t understand. Remember the lesson from Harry Potter: don’t trust something if you can’t see its brain. Ratings are like that and so are most of the self-reported stats.

All of them have pros and cons, stronger points/weaker points… imo, let people go where they want

/ thread

first of all…i have no affiliation with any school…nor am i a rising senior? not sure who you’re stalking there supertool but its the wrong person. im not a ■■■■■ either? nor am i a she?

edit: i retracted my statement that northeastern is a better school

soooo, I was bored and decided to put my two cents in. (Obviously I go to neu, but I’m not talking about my school.)

I’ve got friends at BC and BU, and it seems that BU is way more relaxed. For instance, my BC friends were horrified that my BU friends could shuffle into the dining hall in pj pants. I personally agree with the person (forgot who) who said that the major difference is the whole suburban/urban thing. The only time I saw my BC friends this year were when I went out to BC or the once or twice they came into the city, whereas I would see my BU friends at parties and bars all over Boston regularly. My BC friends didn’t really come into Boston that much.

I’d choose BC over BU only because it has a more liberal education (in terms of the core) and it has more of a closed campus. But BU is a good school from what I hear.

I would say BC>BU>Northeastern in terms of academic prestige. I don’t like BC at all, so for me it would go BU>Northeastern>BC.
