BU vs. Emory

Hello everyone,
I was accepted to Boston University Questrom and Emory University. I am planning to major in business and possibly double-major in computer science. Emory shows higher outcomes on their career page (Emory Goizueta BBA - 70k a year starting salary after graduation; BU Questrom - 61k a year starting salary after graduation), but would possibly put a lot of financial pressure on my family after the corona crisis. The difference is $20k a year, which my parents agree to pay, but it would definitely drain a lot of my family’s resources.

In terms of location, I also expect Emory to more or less require a car (even more cost added to Emory) to move around the city, which makes me prefer the Boston area more than the Atlanta area as a whole. However, Boston is surrounded by other colleges with students competing for the same internships/jobs, while Emory is the top college in Atlanta.

The time to make a decision is running out and I am clueless about which one I should go to.

Thanks ahead for your advice!

Because you are undecided, it may be wise to focus on the annual cost difference.

Emory is $20,000/year more than BU? Both are great schools but I would choose BU.

these were my daughters 2 favorite schools (not for business). She chose Emory ED. but for a cost difference of 20K per year, I suspect she would have chosen BU and I would have encouraged that.

I’d say Emory but for a 20k difference, BU sounds better now.

What’s the breakdown of grants vs loans for each?

You don’t need a car at Emory. Freshmen are not allowed to have cars anyway. You are required to live on campus the first two years, and between the Emory shuttles, Atlanta mass transit, and the occasional ubers you’re fine. My S will be a junior, doesn’t have a car, and doesn’t miss it.
