I am lost in the process of determining where I should study next year.

Current top options:
BU (Pursue getting off the wait list?)
Northeastern (NUin program. First semester abroad, then in CAS in Boston)
Fordham Lincoln Center

Other options:
University of Vermont
University of Pittsburgh (Free Tuition because of my dad's job)
Depaul honors(15k Merit / year)
Bard College
Ohio State University (Still waiting to hear back.. pretty confident)

I was really banking on getting into NYU or GW;I got rejected from both am feeling completely lost. My next choice is Boston University, but I was placed on the wait list. What can I do to get off the BU wait list? What if I don't find out until after I have to make a deposit for another school? Realistically, is pursuing BU a lost cause?

Ultimately, what I decided is that I want to go to a school in an urban environment that still has a sense of school spirit.

Also I know that Pitt seems like a great option, but I really feel the need to get out of Pittsburgh. I live in Pittsburgh and already feel claustrophobic with the area. What I have been looking forward to the most about college is getting to know a new city. I'll always keep Pitt as an option but I really can't convince myself that I would be happy there. I know location is only a facet of the whole college experience, but I personally find it to be very important.

What would you say are my best options right now? Where to do I turn? Should I try to get off the BU waitlist? Keep in mind that the things that I am looking for in a college are:
1.) a competitive atmosphere
2.) A new city location
3.) a sense of school spirit

I know that Pitt is a great school and being debt free is ideal. If I go to BU, Fordham, or Northeastern I will be able to afford undergrad, but will inevitably end up in debt if I go to grad school. I don't want to go to Pitt because I don't think that ambition should be comprisable. If I go to grad school then I will be confident that I will be able to find a career that will allow me to pay off my loans. I am planning on studying environmental science/ global affairs undergrad and law in grad school, but that is subject to change.

Thank you so much for your help.
