These are my three top schools from which I have to choose from. I’d be on the pre med track and want to eventually become a pediatrician. My major is neuroscience or biology at these schools.
BU gave me little to no aid. Only 5,000 in loans and the idea of grade deflation scares me for I need a higher GPA for med schoo. But I do love the city of Boston and it was my top choice for a while, but I’m not the biggest fan of the lack of campus, however i still really like the school.
Fordham, I feel like this school has most everything I’d like, good academics, sports, gorgeous campus; however I’m from NorCal and I’m not sure if I can move all the way to the Bronx. I have visited before and quite liked the campus but I’m not a fan of the surrounding area and am kinda scared to be so far away from my family. They also give me around 20k in merit aid/grants/loans.
USD, gorgeous campus, gorgeous location, good academics, gave me amazing financial aid(over half ride). However it’s the lowest ranking college out of my list(this isn’t a concern for me but more for my mother). It doesn’t seem like it has much school spirit which puts me off and Greek life seems really dominating there. It also has amazing campus food.
Im utterly torn about what I should choose, what are some pros and cons about each to help sway my decisions.
BU and Fordham are both across the country. Sounds like this really comes down to a decision to move across coasts. And money- what did Fordham give you? What is the cost of attendance of each school and can you afford it?
BU doesn’t seem worth it. You need good grades for Med School…and if you do not want to be away from family USD sounds like the better choice…but i personally would choose Fordham ( because i’m more of a city person)
So Fordham will cost roughly 20K more per year than USD, based on this year’s tuition.
I say, USD, especially given that you’re ambivalent about Fordham’s surrounding neighborhood. Enjoy the lovely weather and access to the beach while saving for med school at the same time!
Agree- if Fordham is 20K more per year (is that true?) then go USD. Have you visited Fordham? I have and would feel completely safe there. Its completely gated/walled and the neighborhood is not THAT sketchy. Great security and great access to NYC. But go with your gut on weather you want to move that far from home and are able to pay more money.
