BU walkaround

I have to say I’m not that keen on tours. I’ve been on tons of them and they’re all kind of phony.

CFA - College of Fine Arts - is actually across the intersection of the BU Bridge and Comm Ave from the GSU. They’re planning on redoing it soon.

The theatre program at BU is very good. If your kid is really in love with musical theatre, you might want to look at Boston Conservatory. They have a very good program for that. Brandeis also has a good program but if BU is a reach then Brandeis is out of reach.

One of D2’s close friends is in the BFA program at BU. She chose it over NYU Tisch. One thing that may have influenced her is that she was involved in a summer acting program that BU offers for high schoolers. It might interest your D. Here’s the link:

I believe it’s a selective program. My D’s friend (who is now a junior) worked as a TA for the program last summer.

Actually some of the renovations have already taken place. One or maybe two of the black box theaters have already been redone as have the music practice rooms and one of the student lounges.

You can go to the BU website and search for CFA renovations. There is a nice slideshow of the progress already made…as well as a list of what’s to come.
