I was looking at my orientation stuff and saw that we need to take a writing test.
What is it like and how long is it?
Should I write the essay like an AP English 40 min. prompt?

Don't worry about it. You will be placed in WR100.

Yeah it's just some article or excerpt and you pretty much just respond to the point of view presented and most conveniently just support it- maybe get a little crazy and use a direct quote. They just wanna make sure you know how to write and put you in WR100.

So does a score of 5 on the writing AP test ever replace WR100? I don't want to be placed into - I'd like ta place out of it.

No, AP Eng Lang only lets you place out of WR 099. And you need both scorers to give you 5/5 to get into WR 150. So yeah, you'll probably be in WR 100.

I haven't met/heard of a single person ever being placed out of WR100. You'll have to take it.

My S has a friend who placed out of WR100. The guy is a genius and is earning a BA and master's degree in 4 years.

Easy way to place out of 100/150- External transfer credits

I got placed into WR150, but i was told I can't take that class first semester or something... can you explain how this works? I ended up signing up for a WR 100 class. Does that mean I could have just taken WR 150 second semester instead?

If you were placed into WR150, I don't know why they wouldn't let you take it first semester. I also don't know why they would let you take WR100. That's like taking a class you already have credit for. And I know they offer WR150 classes in the fall because I couldn't fit it spring semester of freshman year so I had to move mine to the next fall.

If you placed into WR150, do NOT waste your time with WR100! If they did say you can't take WR150 until next semester (although that doesn't make sense to me), then just do it next semester, because the class selection for 150 will be broader in the spring anyway. But really, do yourself a favor and go into Student Link and drop the WR100 class and replace it with something more worthwhile for you, either a class towards your major or some other requirement or something. BU's WR courses are hardly anything to take for recreation, in my opinion...
