are there any good places to get bubble tea near CMU? i'm definitely addicted to the stuff :)

Make your own!

http://www.tentea.com/tapbubtea.html

According to a bubble tea aficionada friend of mine, no.

Well if you really don't want to make it yourself, try the Rose Tea Cafe

"The bubble tea place has been around a long time, but the big news is that they are now serving food, and it's really really good. Fairly authentic Taiwanese style home cooking. Get any of the special "over rice" dishes (curry beef over rice, beef stew over rice, etc). The Taiwanese sausage is yummy, the pork stir fries look good, and for the adventurous, they have pork intestines served with large cubes of duck blood sausage, or something. I'm not sure what it was. But they make it there and it's yummy. The bubble tea is interesting too." 5880 FORBES AVE, (412) 421-2238. PITTSBURGH, PA 15217,

hahaha bubble tea....that stuff's great

no good bubble tea places :( awww, darn. and here, i was thinking Pittsburgh was an okay city... heh.

I saw ads for Bubble Tea everywhere when I was up there.... am I just dumb? There was an Asian resturant really close to campus that had a poster in their window for it.

I actually live near the Pittsburgh area and go to Rose Tea Cafe often. It's not bad at all, and the food is pretty good. They serve bubble tea, and although it may not be as good as other major cities (Chicago, Los Angeles, etc.), Rose Tea Cafe is still worth going to if you're craving it.

is it expensive? does neone know how it compares to bubble tea in flushing/chinatown in ny?

FWIW, you can get tapioca in many stores in Flushing and last week I was able to buy inexpensive containers of lichee and star fruit syrup at Ten Ren Tea in Flushing.

I have a friend who is obsessed with bubble tea, and is dissapointed that the place right next to campus isn't very good, but she said there's a good place up in Squirrel Hill (about a mile from campus) to go.

oo, CMUGal, do you know the name of the place?

I'll definately have to try out Rose Tea Cafe, tho i do live in chicago, and may have unreasonable expectations...

the bubble tea place in Squirrel Hill IS Rose Tea Cafe

I'm not a connosieur of tea but having tasted many kinds of bubble tea I have to ask; what is the difference? They all taste the same to me (except for the different flavors).
