I’ve gotten hit with the Tufts Syndrome with waitlists at Tulane and Wake Forest, both of which I showed interest and had stats way above the 75th percentile. Just got accepted to Bucknell, showing no interest other than hitting the send button on the Common App. I wonder why, but honestly my results have been all over the place. C’est la vie when you have great stats but are really just another qualified face in a pool of tens of thousands of applicants.
Cutters: Surprised your D did not get accepted with those stats. Not all strong stats kids were waitlisted. My S was accepted and has 4.3 GPA (3.97 UW) and a 34 on ACT. Was also accepted to Vandy, Hopkins, but not accepted to a couple schools we expected him to be. You just never know with admissions.
I recommend applying ED or showing definite interest in the school, one thing they hate is being a backup school for students
accepted to business with 31 ACT, white male from NJ
Accepted
Waitlisted but not surprised as I did not demonstrate any interest. 3.9UW 34ACT and accepted to Georgetown, Amherst, UVA and Wake Forest.
Congrats to those accepted!
Got accepted ed1, 1920 sat and 32 act but tons of extra curriculars and service. Also visited tons of times and emailed profs and heads of the dept I applied into to show my interest. Got an arts merit scholarship for dance too
Waitlisted - for being overqualified?
(I’ve gotten into much more selective schools) already declined invitation to the waitlist.
My S - Waitlisted - near perfect SAT and gpa/rigorous curriculum
never visited or showed any interest.
Got to remember for next kid, to show interest for safeties and look into chances RD when ED1/ED2 offered.
Accepted 35 ACT 4.7 GPA -
Showed zero interest, but still got in. No real pattern by some of these schools.
Accepted RD with a 29 ACT and 1930 SAT (1350 math and reading) but I was also a Arts Merit scholarship finalist and went on campus to audition which probably helped my acceptance a lot. I am so excited because this was one of my top choices. Good luck with everyone making their final decision and waiting to hear back from their other schools!
Accepted RD with 33 ACT 1980 SAT 3.9 weighted GPA 7 Varsity letters white male
so random- waitlisted at Lehigh Lafayette Richmond Case
Also Accepted RD with 33 ACT, 2130 SAT (i don’t think i sent this), 3.85uw/4+w GPA, and good ECs. Only waiting on one more decision. Congrats to everyone who was accepted! This whole process has been so random. We will all end up in a good place, of that I am sure.
Waitlisted with 32 ACT, 4.3 GPA, Legacy, 12 varsity letters. Accepted Colgate, Lafayette, Boston College.
I think is also depends on which school within the school you are applying. Bucknell is very transparent with its admissions across its ‘colleges’ and majors. My son is a freshman as part of college of management. This point is largely forgotten by most students focused on liberal arts schools as Bucknell is unique in this regard.
Accepted RD 33 ACT- 3.8 GPA 10 AP Total President of Club - NHS Member - White Male. Accepted at Colgate, Lafayette, Brandies, BU, Waitlisted At Lehigh- Typical
Has anyone heard anything about merit money?
Accepted form NY. 3.8 UW gpa. 32 ACT. 6 APs. Visited and corresponded with regional rep. Somewhat surprised but very happy.
Waitlisted Business 31 ACT and 3.8 unweighted GPA, lots of EC’s and Leadership. Female.
Accepted from MD. 32 ACT, 3.9 unweighted GPA, 5 APs, state and nationally ranked wrestler (not recruited for wrestling), Econ major. Also accepted to: VT, Miami of OH, USCSA, USMMA, TCU. Declined from UVA and W&L. Bucknell is definitely at the top of our list, depending on aid.
