Bucknell CSS Profile Deadline Jan 1st - My parents can't fill it out yet

I'm not down with the tax return lingo, but my parents haven't recieved their W-2's for 2006 earnings yet, I believe that is what they said.

So, if they can't even start filling it out yet, how am I supposed to have it in by January 1st?

the Profile is supposed to be filled out with estimated numbers. Use your 2005 tax return and make adjustments, as necessary. Colleges know that the Profile will be revised once 2006 W-2s and other forms come in. DON"T miss a college finaid deadline.

Just an FYI:
When they do actually receive their W2s and file their taxes for 2006, they are supposed to print out the CSS Profile, and make the changes by hand, and then send to the schools. The CSS cannot be changed online once it is submitted. It is usually no big deal, just a couple of numbers that need to be crossed out and rewritten. The FAFSA is also expected to be ESTIMATED, unless the deadlines for that at each school is AFTER your parents can get their w2s and taxes filed.

You need to have them estimate--we simply used our income figures from 2005---they will not finalize your fa package until they see your parent's income tax returns for 2006 anyway
Have them get it in

If your parents' last pay date was the final one for 2006, then the income and withholding numbers are right there on their payroll check stub.

Yea, I told them what you guys said. My dad mumbled about it being a "pain" (he should try doing a college app lol), but my parents are going to sit down and do it all tomorrow.

I'm going to miss the Bucknell deadline by one day, and hopefully it won't matter that much (I mean, it's one day).

from what I understand, you dont really need to have those scores in by Jan 1st

I think this topic was just hit with a stray post

yes it is a pain but if they want you to be eligible for financial aid that is what they have to do.
