<p>I am not in any way suggesting Bucknell has limited activities…just a few thoughts on the greek discussion.</p>
<p>PragmaticDad I think you have identified an important variable about the Greek scene and its role in student lives, the isolation factor. If a school is located closer to a city with various other activities to go do then a student may feel like they have more of an option to belong or not. When there is not much else going on but the activities that are through the greek groups, then a student may feel they will not have enough social interaction without joining.</p>
<p>I was greek many years ago and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. IMO greeks are a great way for students to quickly become deeply involved in the college community and build lifelong friendships. Lots of fun! For students commuting to a local university, it is outstanding and may be the only real way to become a part of the campus.</p>
