Bucknell

what does anyone know about Bucknell. anybody got in this year/ go there. what are your stats?

I visited it (used to be first choice actually) and as far as I know, its a great school... It may be very WASPY, but if you don't mind, you can get over it...
A little bit about Bucknell first...
It is located in Lewisburg PA = middle of nowhere... But it's not that bad, there is a walmart closeby and it sits on a highway (which also divides it partly [but really only for upperclassment]).
As I said before, its very WASPY, so you won't get as much diversity as other schools (I believe 93-94% white).
The campus is beautiful with lots of trees and grass (However each time I visited it (3 times)), it precipitated. It has lots of rolling hills and is mildly spaced out.
It is very well known for its engineering department and just about everything else...
It has no core cirriculum (NCC). They believe that you should choose your own courses (However, unlike some NCC colleges, you they give you a lot of freedom)

To see what stats you need, just follow this link:
<a href="http://www.bernardsboe.com/guidance/RHS/RHS%20Class%20of%202004%20Dec2.pdf%5B/url%5D">http://www.bernardsboe.com/guidance/RHS/RHS%20Class%20of%202004%20Dec2.pdf</a>
Just note that the GPAs are weighted and the highest anyone has ever gotten is a 4.95

thanks a lot...where did you find those percentages/stats?..it kind of sucks because i noticed the trend was more Lower GPA/Higher test scores= IN, Higher GPA/Lower Test Scores=Denied (me)

I am actually shocked that some of those kids were accepted at some of the schools they were with such low GPAs. If those are truely weighted, a 3.5ish isn't that good(atleast at my school).

... Bucknell is really nice and similar to the union, lafayette, colgate, etc type schools. I applied to lafayette and lehigh but decided against bucknell because of their financial aid/scholarship program. I would visit it if I were you and def. talk with some kids on campus.

hopkinslax, do you think a 4.3 could be close to straight As?

That's interesting info, but that is such a small part of the total picture of each applicant that we can't draw too many conclusions. For example, maybe some of the low scorers were 1st gen college kids. There may have been athletic hooks or something. Essays, references etc.

yah i def could understand how some kids got in w 3.5's to good schools...those kids that play sports well/have famous alumni relatives/ etc basically get in wherever they want--its amazing. but yah i really like bucknell, schools are just getting so hard to get into these days so im just a little worried

4.3 is A's & A-'s with a couple B+'s... In that class it is top 15%

what does WASP stand for? White __ ___ preppy?

white anglo saxton prostestant (but it does usually go along with preppy)

ah gocha...did anyone appyl ED to bucknell?

At least there's a walmart nearby. So it's not really in the middle of nowhere.
