Bug problem vent

So right before winter break I saw a scary looking bug in my room n found out it was called a house centipede. First week back from break I found 2 more n then just now saw a fourth in the bathroom (which I share with one girl) that was twice the size of the others. I am absolutely terrified of bugs n my room is (or used to be) the only place I feel comfortable.

I keep it pretty clean n throw out foodstuffs so I don’t get it. Is it a seasonal thing? I’m not from Illinois so Idk. I already talked about it with my RA so I guess I’m just venting now. My boyfriend sent me some bug preventing spray last week but I’ve never used anything like that before so it makes me un uncomfortable. My therapist says House centipedes don’t even come for food so I guess looking around for crumbs would be pointless (plus I’m scared to look for anything cuz every time I find one of those bugs it derails my whole day)

I’m just so upset I left for work over an hour early cuz I just wanna get as far away as possible. That thing was longer than my shoe’s width :(

I think they can be seasonal…if you are in a dorm then report it.
Also, get a “Bugzooka” so you can suck up the bugs but not touch them.

@bopper my RA says he reported it. I have never heard of a bugzooka? Is it expensive?

Report it to the Res Life office. More than once if necessary. Get your friends in your dorm to do so as well. The more complaints, the better. Sometimes you need to be a squeaky wheel. Go in person if they don’t respond to a call or email. They can get someone to come treat it. It would really creep me out , too. Ick.

@doschicos thank you! I always feel nervous complaining about bugs because I definitely get more freaked out than most people. I just messaged the girl who shares the bathroom with me to see if she has seen any. What does reporting it actually do btw? Will they bring in an exterminator?

look at bugzooka on amazon.
They may bring an exterminator if necessary.

They are attracted to dampness. We had a problem with these in our basement until we set up a dehumidifier. Not sure if your allowed to have those in your dorm but we haven’t seen any since.
