Buick Achievers Scholarship Program

Say True Words,
Many of us were provisional national winners. Are we guaranteed the 25000 or does it vary depending on our financial aid package?

When you applied for your scholarship they asked for other scholarships already awarded. My award was not the full 25000 due to other scholarships, many but not all of them one time gifts.

Each school has a maximum amount they value your education. Ours is about 3000 higher than what is published for costs.

The Buick Scholarship takes a look at what the maximum cost is for your school – that number they commit to value the education in your financial aid package. You can earn UP TO whatever that number is that the school determines.

If you have NO OTHER scholarship money, and your school costs 25000.00 to attend, then you will get the full 25000. If you have 5000.00 in scholarship money, then your award is reduced. It can be readjusted in following years.

In my case, I had a few one time scholarships that were substantial - freshman year only things. So I am told my scholarship will go up.

It removed ALL my work study and loans.

Does anybody know when they will start transferring money to our university accounts?

It may be different this year, but last year it was August 15th and the other half in December. You have to verify your enrollment and grades at semester and at the end of the year you will have to send the next financial award letter, transcript and proof of continued enrollment.
