Hey guys, please help me create a path for my future. I have an unparalleled level of drive and ambition. I'm going to be attending a community college for the next 2 years, work my a** off to give myself options for colleges and in the long run plan to receive an MBA. Now, my passions are with stocks & investments. In a perfect world, I would like to become a wealthy hedge fund manager. Now, I really want to attend places with prestige, I want to stand out. I know a Community College isn't the best place to start but I truly believe in myself that I can do anything, so just help me. I'm debating between a Finance Major or Business Major, forgive my ignorance I'm still doing research and hoping you experts can point me in the right direction.

Honestly, I don’t think it matters if you go for Business or Finance as a major at community college. I’d suggest you choose the one with the courses that you’re most interested in, and focus on getting the best grades possible. I assume you’ll be applying to transfer to a 4-year institution after 1-2 years, in which case grades (plus activities and recs) are much more important than your major. As for where you might want to apply to transfer, it’s hard to say without more information.

-Go to CC and kill it with like a 4.0 gpa.
- Transfer to a state flagship or better school if money permits
- Get a decent job and work your way up a little
- Apply to top MBA program
- You should be set up

A 3.8 should be good enough but strive for a 4.0. after a year or two of taking 12 or more credits a semester (you need at least 12 a semester to be considered a full time student) apply to every single one of the ivy leagues as well as the top university in every state you’d be willing to go to. The top schools in every state get the most job recruiting agencies. Make sure you join a community service organization and try to get on the board (president, vice pres, treasurer) for a specific club in your CC. Develop a relationship with one ore two professors so you can get a good letter of recommendation later. Get someone in the english department to proofread your essays for admission. and make sure you check schools deadlines. If your late with an application it wont look good.

Keep in mind some ivy league schools will only accept sophomore transfer students(Harvard). And some will only accept Junior lever transfers so plan accordingly. In fact Look up what each school needs now and deadlines and keep it with you to remind yourself.
