hey, i didn't mean that he have not deserved it. i'm happy for him.
but is there a sphere in which he is particularly briliant? or u mean simply great stats...
i know about 3 people so far: one from my school - well he's a genius - he has at least 2-3 gold medals in international math contests; he's a really nice guy. i also know about a boy from npmg - i think his name is vesko and if i'm not mistaken he has been to the summer program in mit. and yesterday i learnt about a girl from yambol - don't know anything about her... but they rejected one gold medalist in math on EA...

mirela, also could you please tell me your stats...only if u want to...just to compare them with mine...to get a picture about cornell, cause i really really want to go there...altough i don't really believe i'll...:)

Here it comes the following refusal letter for me from Williams :o( I'm just wondering whether I'll be able to discontinue this thread of "sorry, but we can't offer you a place".
Good luck to you!

cheer up! williams accepts really very very few internationls and they accepted 2 bulgarians from the american college of sofia with great stats
i personally got rejected too...
whatever! still waiting for more responses...
good luck again and don't give up hope!

mira, I'm sooo Happy for Mitko, he REALLY is a great guy. CONGRATS!!!

I also received my rejection letter from Williams.
Let's hope today will be a better day!

dacutewabbit, my stats are:
SAT I: 1460 (V720, M760)
SAT IIs: Writing 720, Math Ic 700, German 780
TOEFL: 287
GPA: 5.98

And about Mitko - he's a great debater, a brilliant mathematician (he has some awards from different competitions), he's just one of those people whom you begin to respect from the first moment you see them.

i just got into mt holyoke full ride, sOOO happy!

mirela your stats are quite like mine, let's hope that cornell we'll take me too;)
only that my sat1 is a litle lower - 1410
but my sat2 are not bad - math2c800/writing-740/physics-720...
gpa: 5.98
teofl: 653 (out of 677) which is pretty much the same:)

congrats for mitko again. i beleive he's desereved it.

Congratulations Diana! Mount Holyoke is a wonderful school!

dacutewabbit, which school at Cornell did you apply to?

mira, to the college of arts and sciences...to the psychology department

congratulations, diana86 and everyone accepted so far! :)

Anyone waiting for Duke's decision this night? It's my first choice but I'm a realist and know how slim my chances are.

yeah, i'll be staying up late this night...although i know that i'll be rejected...
hope dies last... (taka li se kazwa na angl?:))

good luck ckakalacheva and eb else still waiting!

Duke didn't kill the thread of rejection letters for me ;o)))
Johns Hopkins is the next on my list of top choices but now I'm not optimistic at all.
Hope you have better news to share about Duke! :)

rejected bu duke, too... nothing new, though, i knew i would be
btw johns hopkins is a really great school, together with stanford - these were my two dream universitites, but i decided i didn't stand a chance so i haven't even applied to them...
good luck with JHU,ckakalacheva! what do you want to study there? i know they have superb psychology and medicine departments

I plan to study Biochemistry or something else with Bio- but most probably I'll be doing it at IUB cos I just got rejected form Carleton and Colgate. I thought Carleton to be an absolute safety but I'm not even waitlisted.

I thought that a SAT score of 1510 would definitely get me admitted, but maybe being Internationals is what really hinders us from success in the US.

How much I should score on TOEFL to be sure that it will be enough for most prestigious schools in the US ? For example, how much the people who got accepted scored ????

I was accepted at Georgetown last night..I never really expected this! However, I'm not very optimistic about the finandial aid package - I've heard they're very stingy with internationals. Yet it's good to be accepted.

ckakalacheva, I really don't know what's going on with these schools. I was rejected by most of my safties which is particularly strange for me.

I wish all of you luck!

Martin, anything above 270 should be fine.. but TOEFL will be, in my opinion, the easiest obstacle on your way.
