Bulldog Days

Does anyone know when this will take place?

Thanks

April 16th-18th

Everybody must come! It will be great. And I'll be around. So if any CC'ers want to say hi to me :)

who will be hosting the pre-frosh? seniors? freshmen? because when i went to williams during the fall for their diversity weekend, we were hosted by freshmen. it was nice because we got to see what freshmen housing/social life was like, but since it was only two months into the school year, our hosts were limited in what they could tell us about their school.

hey how was that? I got invited but was busy both weekends. How many kids were there?

eventer, the williams diversity weekend was awesome. there were about 100 kids during my weekend in october and it was so much fun to stay in freshmen housing. i had such a positive experience there with the students i met, the facilities, the setting, the classes, and the general wonderfulness of the admissions staff that i picked williams as my first choice right then and there. well, things have obviously changed since then with the whole yale likely admit deal but if something catastrophic happened and i couldn't go to yale, i would be more than happy at williams.

but back to the topic of the thread: i absolutely cannot wait for bulldog days!!!!!

Bulldog Days is...awesome. Seriously guys, I cried when I was leaving. I didn't want to leave. It was the happiest three days of my life.

Basically, you get here, we host you, and you enjoy campus. You go to classes, you go to activities that are hosted by admission, but the best part...

Is that you can join us Yalies in stuff. Organizations throw events, and you aren't expected to be just a spectator...we want you guys to join in and be involved with the organizations.

Anyway, I'm a member of the Party of the Left, so if you see that debate going on, look for me.

Also...if anybody likes anime, we can introduce you to the member of the awesome YAle anime society!

Are only EA and "likely" acceptances invited to Bulldog Days?

No mam. If you get in on RD, you will be eligible. Gah, spelling...

Yes, the registration is on the Bulldog admits website, and it is opened to all individuals who are accepted to Yale.

Is it a three-day thing, or is it like Penn Preview days where it's a one-day affair offered on different days?

And are we allowed to go if we get accepted but might not attend? Yale is so darn expensive, and though I probably won't be able to afford it (if I even get in lol) I would at least like to see what could have been...

Rooster, it's a three day thing and it's only offered once. And erhswimming: yes. The whole point of Bulldog Days is to convince you to choose Yale.

erhswimming: If you do get in and find that your FA package is wanting, please do speak with them. In my area, the biggest reason for accepted students not going to Yale is mostly a ridiculously attractive (read: full ride) scholarship at some great schools. You may get that too. Regardless, if Yale is your no. 1 choice, PLEASE, PLEASE let the admissions office know this -- they'll try to work with you. Might you have to work while you're at Yale? So what. So do most college students across the country. I don't recall how many Yalies actually work while they're there. It's not like in the past with "Bursor's students" who were waiters in Freshman Commons. I absolutely needed my FA and worked all eight semesters there; it helped to focus my time. The easy spending money definitely helped too.

I'll definitely be telling them it's my #1 choice, but I'm not sure how sympathetic they will be. My EFC is about 80k, but because I have three younger siblings, it would basically take my parents taking my college tuition out of equity, and they don't want to build up our debt anymore. They can afford about $12k (about the price of my in-state schools). How much can I expect to make a year if I do pursue part-time jobs while at Yale? I remember them saying something about how minimum wage there is a lot higher for Yalies, but I was wondering how much per year I could expect while still attending class/actvities/etc.

I think minimum wage at Yale campus jobs is $11 something, which is pretty darn good.

And how much you make per year will depend on your schedule and how often you can work, of course.. I'd say anywhere from 12-20 hours a week?

how much does bulldog days cost? I haven't ever been to Yale and if I get in, I really want to go

and do you leave on the 18th (b/c I have to go to a similar thing for WashU on the 19th)

Bulldog days is free, except for transportation costs. If you think you might qualify for financial aid, the admissions office might be able to swing some money your way for transportation.

The last event on the 18th ends at 5:00 PM, but you're free to come or leave whenever you want. Just let the admissions office know. The schedule for the 18th is as follows:
