Anyone want to share about their travel arrangements? I am having an awful time trying to book a plane ticket. All of them leave at either arrive in New Haven too late, or the departure time is at 5:30 AM. I don't really want to take a cab out to the airport by myself @ 4:00 in the morning... Shivers.

I actually plan to travel to NYC the Friday before and stay there for the weekend before traveling to New Haven- getting a direct flight there is going to be a nightmare, cause of all the Yalies flying in. Plus my family has some prior commitments in NYC, so I'm kind of obligated to stay for there for the weekend anyway lol. Congrats on getting in!

NYC a day or two before is not a bad plan... there's a train from Grand Central in NY to New Haven that gets there in an hour and a half and is relatively cheap. This will give you a much wider choice of airports as well (which can hopefully save you money).

Guys: consider flying into Bradley (Hartford CT) as it's a larger airport so is served by more inbound flights. There's a 45 minute shuttle (CT Limo) that gets you to New Haven.

I used to fly into/out of NY/Newark airports but found BDL to be a much better alternative. If you're travelling with any parents, flying into BDL and renting a car can be a very affordable option (book flight from airline company's website and bundle a rental car: much cheaper than booking separately). Last time I was at Yale, I was there for about a week and my rental car only cost $120 because I booked the "vacation package" with US Air.

Seriously guys - DO NOT FLY INTO NEW HAVEN IF YOU DONT HAVE TO. I am so sorry for you guys that have already booked but I agree with T26, take CT Limo from whichever - Bradley, LaGuardia, JFK - to Yale. Since the New Haven airport is small they have smaller planes more likely to hit delays, which affects you a lot since you have to connect in Philly for all of the flights. I stayed overnight at Yale and ended up staying two nights since I wouldn't have made my connection, then the next day they delayed my flight for the Second time in twenty-four hours.

If you are going to do it (don't) through Tweed, I suggest:
-Make sure your connection time on the way back is at least two hours. It'll be the flights b/t New Haven and Philadelphia with delays.
-Don't choose the last flight of the night, either way. You want to make sure you won't miss a connection and have to spend the night in Philadelphia, and that on the way there your flight will actually make it to New Haven.

Sorry if I sound overdramatic but by the time I got home it was fifteen hours later than my original arrival was supposed to be and US Air's service sucks anyway, without all the icky delays (you have to pay for any beverages, small planes=longer flights and more uncomfortable vibrating).

Yeah, I'm going. (So excited!) I'm from NYC though, so I'll take either the MetroNorth or Amtrak. I should probably figure out the train situation soon...

Or, if my friend's mom is driving up there, I might just hitch a ride with him. I really don't want my parents to go up there for BDD.
