PRINCETON, N.J. - The Yale 1V won the Princeton Chase this afternoon, finishing 13.8 seconds over the second-place Tigers. It was the first time the Bulldogs have won the event in Head Coach John Pescatore's tenure at Yale.

Yale's varsity eight proved that last week's 3rd place finish at the Head of the Charles Regatta was no fluke. Their time of 14:04.27 was easily the fastest on a windy Lake Carnegie, beating a field that included Princeton, Cornell, Syracuse and Trinity. The Elis fell back early in their piece to Princeton and Syracuse, but erased the deficit and opened up a sizeable advantage during the last mile of the course.

The boat was coxed by Alfred Shikany, and included Hunter Swartz (stroke), Sean Lynam (seven) Patrick Purdy (six), Charlie Cole (five), Matt Campbell (four), Andrew Collard (three), Michael Smith (two), and Patrick Beedling (bow).

The Princeton Chase was also a useful outing for Yale's second and third varsity eights. With 24 rowers competing, the Bulldogs had a chance to test their depth before the end of the fall rowing season...
