In most dorm rooms, there are bunk beds. In some, there are lofted beds or beds on opposite sides of the room. Im wondering about bunks. Which bed do you prefer, the bottom or the top?

My opinion changes all the time. Im thinking the bottom is better so that I dont fall off of the top. But then I think that people will be sitting on my bed all the time (not that i mind too much) but i do mind when people put their dirty shoes on my bed. So then I think that I might prefer the top because of that reason. ANYWAY lol, which one do YOU prefer?

I prefer top (although my bed at ISU comes lofted, so I dont have to worry) because I hate it when people come into my room and just plop down on my bed. Or throw their stuff all over my bed.

many schools have adjustable beds - the head & foot boards have multiple holes for the side rails so you can choose the height of your bed. - you can loft them up above your desk, have them at normal bed level, or stack it ontop of your roomie's bed for a bunk bed.

The top bunk:
disadvantage: you can fall off the ladder or the bed (esp. if intoxicated) and if you're tall, you may bump your head on the ceiling when sitting up.
advantage: your way up high where nobody will bother you, you don't have to listen to your roomie roll around above you.

the bottom bunk:
disadvantage: people coming into your room will always sit on your bed as a couch. (even people your roomie has over). I also hope your roomie doesn't wet the bed in the middle of the night or toss & turn constantly
advantage: no ladder

loft: bed up in the top bunk position, desk/dresser underneath. Saves a bunch of floorspace. I personally prefer the loft position... you're separated from your roomate by more than a few feet when you sleep. They can do what they want with thier bed.

I like the bottom beacuse I don't have to climp up when I feel lazy. Aslo I was just on the Royal Carribean cruise and my cousin had the top bunk and he hit his head like seven times on the ceiling. The best was when he tried to boost himself onto the bed but he put to much power into his boost and rammed his head into the ceiling. Second best was when the phone rang at six in the morning and he sat up really quickly and crushed his head into the ceiling. Poor guy.

The bottom - if you are exhausted (or drunk), it is not fun to climb up to the top bunk - or to get down in the morning when you have to wake up early. My roomie this past year got to the room first and claimed the top bunk. He regretted it the rest of the year.
