That's this Thursday. Please post if you find out you're a finalist, so we know when the notices have been sent. Good luck!

Last year they notified by phone, then I also received a letter in the mail a couple days later. Can’t wait to hear who’s a finalist!

Looks like they updated the blog entry. It now reads:

* February 18: Buntrock Scholarship finalist notifications mailed

So a day later than originally stated…

Thanks for catching that. I would’ve been wondering all day. So mailing goes out tomorrow.
… and the wait continues…!

I’m a finalist Just got the call and they said a letter was on its way!!! IM SO EXCITED!!

Congratulations!!! You must be thrilled! So the phone call came today, Saturday?

Thank you Yupp. Came just a few hours ago!

CONGRATS!!! Um Ya Ya!

Congrats FSP! If you are RD, it must have been doubly exciting to find out early that you’re admitted along with the chance at a big scholarship. And I would think that all the finalists end up with a good scholarship (probably one tier below Buntrock) even if they don’t win.

We get home today and there is a message on our answering machine from a Saint Olaf student saying that D’s application has been processed and we should hear from them by March 15th. That’s it, nothimg about an acceptance or scholarship or anything. I dont know what to make of it. Did anyone else receive a call like this?

Yes, my D received a similar phone message. I’m assuming that they just wanted to add a personal touch to the admissions process and keep prospective students feeling good about St. Olaf.

Yes, I was RD so it was a very very pleasant surprise Hopefully I will be selected for one scholarship. That’s so nice of Olaf to call applicants.

Annferg, just spoke with Admissions and they said there is a group of students who make those calls simply to touch base and answer questions if you have them. He also said scholarship info goes out by mail rather than phone call, so we could still be hearing from them.

D (who applied RD) received an acceptance packet including a statement that she was a finalist for a Buntrock scholarship, and that further info on the scholarship weekend was being sent separately. No phone call though.

S received letter today regarding Buntrock Scholarship. No phone call.

Congrats cooker’s D and sarahsdad’s S, hope your kids and FSP enjoy the visit and get the Buntrock $$!

My daughter got a letter today telling her she did NOT get the Buntrock scholarship.

It said she was being “seriously considered” for the other scholarships, but definitely read like a form letter that was being sent to everyone who didn’t make Buntrock finalist. When I saw the St. Olaf letter, I thought it was nice she was getting something from them right before her audition visit, but then she was just depressed when she read it!

^ My D got the same letter today. I know it’s a form letter, but I’m hoping they would have sent a different version to people who WEREN’T being seriously considered! My D isn’t in yet, and it would be really crummy to receive a letter saying you were being seriously considered for one of the scholarships but end up being denied admission.

Congrats to all the Buntrock finalists . . . have a great weekend!

Yes, my kid also got the form letter. It really turned kid off St. Olaf.

Here’s what kid got out of it (not the actual letter but kid’s take on it): “You are okay, but despite your 4.0 and very, very high ACT score, you are not worthy of being invited to our Buntrock interviews. We have invited TWO HUNDRED, yes, TWO HUNDRED students to our campus to interview (on our website, we said we only invite 150 but we actually invited TWO HUNDRED!). You didn’t make the cut. Your application was below the TWO HUNDRED mark. If there is any $$ left over, we might consider you for a lower scholarship.”

I think they could have written a better letter.

^ Seriously? I think you’re overreacting. Out of curiosity, what do you think they SHOULD have said?

Seriously, that was the gist of it. Something like ‘the admissions staff has made their recommendations and invited 200 students back to interview. You are not one of them.’
Turned my d and her best friend off.
