I basically did 45 units in 1 semesters time just to make up for transfer -_-. I am quarter system at CSU and signed up for spring at CC and didnt realize it starts during my winter term and lasts until after spring term at csu. Ended up having finals with midterms, then midterms with more midterms. Then online class midterm. then im going to have a nice big bundle of FINALS. To top that off, JURY DUTY ON FINALS WEEK!

Have not decided if thats a good thing or bad thing. Good, excuse to pospone test. Bad, get dropped for missing class.

@emil My brother goes to berkeley!! I really want to go and get a nice apartment up there, take my dogs, and be with family. Davis is just so far out there. I like the idea at first, but I know im the homesick type. I’m from LA.

Tell me about it. 4 classes for a total of 19 units. Two math, two physics.

The only thing that’s keeping me from jumping off a building is SD/LA. Also. THREE MORE WEEEEEEKS AND IT’S OVAAAAHHH

I’m not taking NEAR as many units as you guys but I’m still burned out, Calc 2 at 7:30 AM 4 days a week is taking its toll on me (not in terms of the work… I just want to sleep
)

Wow, that is seriously amazing. I have nothing to complain about whatsoever then. You are hardcore. haha the jury duty will probably turn out being a good thing…hopefully? That is if your professor is okay with it.

^^ HAHA I was going to add another class for 22 units. The ONLY thing that kept me from doing it was that it started at 7:30. No thank you. I took a class that started at 7 once and it was ■■■ 3 days a week.

emil
hahah if not, ill practice for law school and slap them with a lawsuit. I think jury duty gets you out of anything right? hahahaha jk. I’m not the only one here. I started taking all these classes and expressing my concerns to my friends. Spring comes along and two of them are packing their schedules at the nearest three CCC to compete with me, but I’m the only one that hasnt dropped anything yet haha. Sticking it out for any school that takes me. I’ve suffered through half of it already. I’ll only have 90.5 total quarter units at end of spring… For CAL, I need 1 class Macroecon during summer and thats IT.

Law school - nice!! I’m still up in the air about whether or not I want to go to law school, business school, or grad school! :p. Each option appeals to a different aspect of my personality. In the end, all are great options though.

haha btw I’m young, and have never been on jury duty. I’m serious when I say that I’m curious to know what it’s like! I’ve been waiting for jury duty! lol weird, yeah?

Congrats on getting into Davis! I think I read that you said that earlier on. I love it there. Cal is my favorite though.

As for Econ, with only 1 prereq left, you probably have a solid shot depending on your GPA, but we will see! That would be fantastic if you got in! Definitely keep me posted. Btw if you don’t mind me asking, how come you’re transferring?

38 units is NUTS, go you! I can’t believe I’m complaining about 18 units. But yeah, I’m totally burned out too. Blah, I have a month to go and I just failed another test. Blah.

What does 38 quarter units equal in semester units?

~25 semester units

Toby Gerhart, the RB drafted from Stanford and also Heisman contender, took 21 semester units (~31 quarter)

21 semester units at Stanford while also playing football??

i think itll all come down to friday…if i get into berkeley, ill be fine til the end of the semester, if i dont get into berk, ima just say “**** it all”

football players get preferential treatment especially if your well-known and a good player.

Teachers will be much more lenient in term of grading, due to external circumstances that may prevent you from studying

emil
transferring bc I thought had a good enough gpa haha. I just want to do more… I have 3.775 right now. I am praying for CAL right now but my chances are slim haha. Even though I am missing only one prereq, I get last pick. Last year 89% if aplicants were cc students… Then the priority goes to UC to UC. I get any leftover spot i think. With their admit rate at 25-30%, I dont think i will be able to beat 60% of the cc applicants haha. =(

I hope we get in! I like berkeley and SF so muchh. Going up to visit my brother and Davis May 6-9 haha. I hope I’ll have a reason to visit CAL too!

@peterr: True, but Stanford is still Stanford. 21 units + football is extremely impressive.

Four straight (including summer) semesters of math & a couple of accounting classes I took just in case I went to a CSU. I asked my bunakanaka last night, “What am I doing with my life?”

Guess what everyone MY SEMESTER IS OVER!!! It is summer time for this girl! :)))))). So happy… just have to wait to here from Berkeley so I can really start enjoying my summer…
Oh and emil if you want jury duty move to San Joaquin county… it’s ridiculous, everyone my age (21) has already had to appear twice!!! Stupid ghetto Stockton!

@peter, not necessarily. I’ve seen top schools reject some recruits just because they have a horrible GPA (no matter how athletic they are). At least Gerhart was the valedictorian of his HS.

Also to throw in the mix: Cal is recently under fire because several of their basketball players are in danger of not graduating.

“Fifteen percent of male basketball players graduated within six years from UC Berkeley, compared to 80 percent of male students university- wide, according to the National Collegiate Athletic Association’s study.”

^That doesn’t seem like leniency to me.

I feel like such a bum. I am currently taking 6 units and both classes are just for fun.

(I’m done with everything though)
