I have a son strongly considering UCF and the Burnett Honors college and he had some questions after a visit there last week. If any current students could respond it would be greatly appreciated. Does Burnett have a lot of activities for the students ? Do the Burnett students form intramural teams? Do the Floors in Towers 3 do social activities? Form intramural teams? My son will be from Illinois and was wondering if students stay around on the weekends. Also he went to a basketball game last Saturday and there were not a lot of other students at the game. Does student attendance pick up during the regular basketball season? Thanks
My son (visited last week for the NMSF) is also strongly considering UCF, Burnett and the Towers. However he is also considering rooming with the “normal” population at the towers. He is a big college football fan and loves basketball. He will be attending OOS but has a grandmother in both directions on both coasts and is taking my jeep wrangler for fun. My daughter will also be a freshmen and they will most likely go together. She has been accepted and is waiting for acceptance to Burnett Honors. (4.7/ 3rd in class/ 31 ACT). If they all decide on UCF we can introduce them
Sounds like a good plan to introduce them should they all go there. My son and I watched the second half of that UCF/USF game Friday on ABC. Good stuff and the stadium looked to be rockin in Orlando. Your son and my son sound similar and I saw in another post your son’s stats which are similar to my son. He plans to study CS. I will follow this blog in April when we know for sure where they go. Go Knights!
I too have a son accepted to Burnett Honors and looking to live in towers in honors LLC . Completed the housing application and paid the $250(ouch). Went to select the LLC and it wouldn’t show in the drop down box. I selected Tower 3 as his first choice. Anyone have any luck applying to the Honors LLC? Hoping its not full and closed.
My daughter also put the housing deposit down and selected Tower 3, but is unable to select the Honors LLC. I did read somewhere, (I cannot remember where - it may have been the Honors College acceptance letter), that in order to select the LLC for Honors, you first have to accept admission into both UCF and the Honors College. Since you cannot accept admission to Honors until February I believe, we will have to wait. I think that the date you applied to housing is what they use for priority to Honors Housing though. This is just what I have gathered through reading through various websites and pamphlets - so not 100% sure.
I am from St Pete and my wife from Jacksonville. We both consider Florida home. We are also both FSU grads. If Senate Bill 4 in Florida goes through in February (allowing the Benaquisto COA to OOS NMF) it may shake up the NMF scholars choice of schools across the state.
Towers 3 is only Burnett.
The $250 Will be applied to your housing bill fall semester.
