i'm stuck in bursley.
is it horrible?
be honest...
brutally honest...

I didn't live in bursley, but the general consensus is that except for it being on north campus, it is a fun dorm. It's nearly all freshmen, so you will meet alot of people, and the food is the best on campus. It's also the biggest dorm on campus.

Also, it's the newest dorm at UM (built in the 1970s) until North Quad gets finished sometime this decade.

i stayed in bursley while i was in LSA. the hall it itself was great but there were other drawbacks.

let me tell you that the bus service is a pain. during my time it was 10 mins per bus but now i think they come every 5 mins. which helps i guess. the problem is that in the morning, everyone wants to catch the same buses down to central, so it's usually packed to the brim.

the worse thing that can happen is if you've a 1 hour or 90 min break between classes and have nothing to do. if class is not near the bus stop you'll have to take a 10 min walk to the bus stop, wait for the bus, another 10 mins to get up north, and a short walk to your room. that's almost 30 mins. by then it's almost time to go back down for classes again. so if you were hoping for a quick nap yeah it'll have to be real quick....

so while the food's great, you'll prolly not be there during lunch unless you have a long break around lunchtime.

i could go on and on about the hassle but i shall let you form your own opinions =)

I just dropped off my kid there for a summer camp. That dorm is pretty dumpy. The furniture all needs to be tossed. The rooms are perhaps the smallest dorm rooms I have ever seen. I'm sure he'll have fun at the camp, but, yikes.
