Can you compare the two. I'm a transfer engineering student and now have a bursley double. I personally dont' care about the social scene. What I like about Bursley is that it's closer and I don't have to walk as far compared to Baits, which is a huge plus during the winter, but I heard Bursley was loud. How loud is it and when do the noises subside? Are the walls thin like paper?

Is it possible to get any studying done in the dorm room? Where do bursley ppl usually study? Pierpoint or duderstadt? What about people from Baits? I don't like walking, so Baits might be too far away. What about riding the bus from pierpoint to bursley/baits? Can you explain to me any details/ any links about the bus or have any personal advice/experience? Also, how's Bursley's food? Is bursley really that loud or is it pretty antisocial?

How are the double rooms/bathrooms?

Is there a lot of drinking/partying? I don't like those kinds of things. Basically, I know baits is quieter, but how much quieter? Also, is baits the ideal study place?

any tips for a first timer?

I’ve never lived in Bursley or Baits, so I’ll leave the answers about the rooms to someone else However, I live in Northwood, so I know about the general reputation/North Campus stuff. Although not as social as a dorm like Markley, Bursley does have a lot of freshmen which can imply that it can be loud. However, it really just depends on what kind of hallway you get, and unfortunately, there’s no way to tell that in advance. If you’re bothered by noise when you’re in your room, you could always invest in a good pair of noise cancelling headphones - those helped me tremendously when I lived in South Quad my first two years.

Because Michigan is such a huge school (which may or may not be like the school you’re coming from, I’m not sure), people study kind of around the clock. By that I don’t mean that everyone studies all the time, but instead that everyone has a different schedule. Some people are most productive in the morning, and then you have people like me who are night owls and get their best work done between 10PM-2AM. For more social places to study, you could go to the Bursley CLC (computer lab) or the Blue Apple (Bursley caf

baits is not quieter. neither are too loud. it’s a college though so loud is pretty relative. i lived in baits and could study but for serious studying most go to the Dude. Pierpont has some nice study rooms too. Food in bursley is good but again it’s a college so good is relative. don’t freak out too much over distance cuz youre gonna be doing a lot of walking anyway and the difference is only 1-2 minutes between the two. most people walk from pierpont to bursley cuz they are close but if you really need the bus that much they run every couple of minutes.

I will instantly think less of you if you are waiting for the bus at Pierpont to go up to Bursley

My son’s personality sounds similar to yours. He lived in Bursley his first semester, and switched to Baits his second. He preferred the quietness of Baits. I can’t remember if it was called Baits 1 or Baites 2. It was the one that was closest to Bursley.
