I read a post about stating that surge protectors, extentiion cords and long internet cable was a must. Same for Bursley? Also, are the rooms really hot? I'm assuming a fan is a necessity. Any other suggestions before I leave? thanks

I am also wondering about this. Thanks for any responses.

Extension cords are really useful because you only get a limited numbers of outlets, say 2~4 near your desk.

Rooms are a bit warm only for the first month (and only during the day), but I do recommend a fan. And besides, I'm from a tropical island so I might be a bit different :P My roommate who was from Michigan always opened the window in the night (even in winter) so a fan might be more necessary than you think ;)

As for internet, long cables are necessary, but one is provided per room if you rent a hub (usually required for a lot of dorms since there is only one active internet jack per room). Note that Markley is wireless. And I think theres a housing rule against it, but I did notice that some students use wireless routers.

We movedmy daughter into Bursely yesterday. It was very warm. Definitely bring a fan. Also, bring a long extension cord and a surge protector.

wait, you have to rent hubs? in one of the orientation papers, it says that "hubs are provided" and i just thought that would mean they were free..
better to just bring my own?

and also, to anyone who doesn't mind, how big is your bursley double? i was disappointed to learn that mine is about 75sq ft smaller than my friend's double in east quad.. i thought we were supposed to get the bigger dorms?

We helped our son move in to Bursley on Sunday. Hubs are provided for free. They were not available while we were there but were supposed to be available starting today.

As far as the room size goes, our son is in a double that is probably about 10x14 (give or take) not including the small closets and little bit of entryway.
