Is it free for Cal student?
I live west off campus near university ave.

Yes, all AC transit buses are free for cal students.

Edit: I guess its not technically free because we pay for it in our tuition.

“Free” in the sense that your fees pay for you to acquire a “Class Pass” sticker for your student ID.

So long as you flash your pass with a valid sticker, you’re entitled to free travel on any AC Transit bus; line 51 is AC Transit.

when you mention pass… do you know how and where i can get it?
and if i have the pass, how do we get “class pass” sticker?

thank you for the answers.

You can get your sticker right outside of the place where you got your Cal 1 card. (I think that’s by the Cesar Chavez center…?)

Do you have to bring your Cal Card and any other things…?

P.S. Is the F line (Transbay) free? Probably not I’m guessing…

Yes the F line is free. Any AC transit line is free.

OMG YES. Shopping in Frisco without that stupid $5.80 bart fare! :D

Origination/destination don’t matter. If it’s an AC Transit bus, you ride it for free when you show your Class Pass sticker on your ID.

You will need to bring your ID card with you when you go to pick up the sticker. I think they recently rearranged things, but it should be in the general vicinity of the Cal 1 Card office in Lower Sproul, across from the General Books level of the Student Store (right next to Cesar Chavez). You can’t miss it – there’ll be a huge line of other students trying to get their stickers. :P

They scan it to determine if your fees are paid for the semester, then give you a sheet with the sticker on it which you will then put on your ID yourself. It costs something like $60-$80 to replace the sticker if you lose it (cough sell it).

^ don’t sell it! cops have been cracking down on the sellers recently by falsely posing as students (i heard).

Definitely not advocating selling your sticker!

Just pointing out it’s dumb. Short of losing your ID itself, having to replace the sticker probably does mean you’ve sold it. You can’t get the sticker without your ID in hand, so putting it on the ID before you lose it shouldn’t be too difficult. <_<

For that matter: if they’re cracking down on people selling them, why do they not simply put the sticker on your ID themselves?

^They did that for me yesterday.

So THIS is why they’ve been putting stickers on the IDs themselves (as of this weekend).

Ah. Well then!

Still begs the question why they haven’t always done it like that, but I guess you can’t expect everything. ;)
