Any opinions if daughter was offered transfer admission to either of these campuses in Business Administration? Or possibly San Diego State?

Why not UC Berkeley?

You dont really cross shop those schools with Berkeley :P

If you have the money I would pick UCR. If not, SF. However, I would probably choose Fullerton over any other california public school, including Haas.

^thats interesting. For what reason(s)?

He thinks it’s cool to do what everyone else isn’t doing.

Don’t get me wrong, Haas is great for a business degree. But it may not be a worthwhile investment for everyone. And one can succeed by going to a Cal State. Apparently, some members confuse US News Rankings with personal success, skills, and hard work.

Like the guy said “everyone wants to go to Haas.” Not that hard to get into if you study and go to a CCC. Do you want to follow the herd? A business degree isn’t a real degree anyway.

There is also a difference between book-studying skills and business skills.

I am not saying Haas is bad: it is great. However, I live near Fullerton and would rather not go into debt. I knew a few Haas students who chose Fullerton as their third/fourth choice-after USC/UCLA.

Also, if anyone cares, I switched from BA to economics.

^Did you get into Haas? Or did you change your major before u ever applied

And you say “business is not a real degree”…care to elaborate?

the OP asked for SFSU or UCR nothing else, why bother bringing other crap up? I’d say SFSU, its much cheaper and think about it, its in SF, so u have all those companies there, thus increasing the availability of internships, which can jump start a career.

either way, good luck!

No I did not. I applied to Haas but I rescinded my application and applied as an econ major for fall 2010.

I guess I prefer an academic degree over an applied degree for undergrad. I feel econ opens more doors, is more difficult, and is more interesting. I looked at the undergrad business curriculum and was not impressed. I rather take more math, upper level econ (like game theory), and have more options open like law school, teaching, economics, finance, etc.

Let me take back what I said about business not being a real degree and say it is instead not a traditional academic degree. I basically switched after doing a lot of research. I am assuming you applied to Haas. If you get in, you will probably like it and find it easy. You’ll also have practically the same opportunities as an economics major. I guess I find the economics curriculum more “attractive.” And I think most people would agree that getting an academic degree at a UC is better than Calstate, if one can afford it. With applied degrees, it may matter less.

Riverside is alright too; I live around there. I think UCR has some sort of reputation around here in Riverside.
