Bus Reliability

Was wondering if anyone else has a child that relies heavily on the buses. My D must travel extensively to classes and assignments at the Field House and Bob Carpenter Center. She sometimes waits in the dark, or poor weather, and the buses are late or don't show. Tardiness is unacceptable for these activities and walking when late is useless. The application she uses to check the schedule is not reliable either. Any options or ideas. A car right now is not an option for us. Would love some input.

We have considered a bike, but wondering if other options exist. Thanks!

If she doesn’t want to wait, then getting a bike is the next best option. They also have physical copies of the bus schedule on the buses. Those are reliable when they don’t have their GPS on. I’d tell her to get out to the bus stop with plenty of time for her to have by the time she gets to her destination (unless of course she only has 15mins between classes to get there).

it’s funny, last year when my D was a freshman in Dickinson she said busses were scare. She had an evening class and the bus did not always come. This year she is in the towers and says the bus service is excellent from up there. she does have one evening class and has her car on campus this year. She takes her car to that class since she can park after 5pm with her parking pass. She is on the busses often during the day and has said the service was so much better to north campus. Mine will find anything to complain about so I’m sure it must be good from up there. lol…

Apparently the buses weren’t so reliable today in the snow. My DD was driving her apartment-mate down to class this afternoon.

My D is in Rodney. If Dickinson area was unreliable, maybe its the dorm location.

yeah, it’s the same bus and was not good at all. I used to think she was making it up and being dramatic about the busses thinking she was just not interested in getting on a bus. But hearing her this year rave about the busses I know that was not the case.
