business admin, econ, business economics. anyone care to explain the difference? btw im currently majoring in bizz econ, but I haven't come across my concentration yet. Im not sure whether my college even offers my concentration, (IT Management). Or do we even get to concentrate? Will i just have to major in bizz econ and thats it? I was planning on doing a minor, but now sure of the process.?? I go to UC Riverside btw.

As an Economics major myself I would recommenced that if you have the choice to go with either BUAD (business administration) or business econ. There’s a reason that the Economics major doesn’t appear in most universities undergraduate business schools, it’s a social science. While it’s nice to learn general market trends and all about interest rates etc you will take very few actual hard skills from your education into employment. At least with BUAD and business econ you get some fundamental courses in accounting and corporate finance (at the very least) that will be FAR more useful than any pure economics course that you take. While the classes are interesting (if you like the material), it’s just not as useful as those other 2 majors.

I agree with the above, especially since you don’t go to a target school (no offense…it’s not like I do either). It’s probably better to have a hard business degree under your belt (preferably accounting…I’d bet the Big 4 recruit at your school since it’s a UC) and then either double in econ, or minor in it to give you a more theoretical background and then fill the rest with quant classes.

I understand that business econ will give a wider variety of exposure than just economics. But at least econ is specialized, while business is really broad. Would it be better to double major in business and econ? or rather business econ with minor in a System Information? If im trying to work in the management / operation field. AND how goes the process of minoring in a subject? How hard is doubling majors anyway, pros and cons?

If you want to go into management I don’t see why you wouldn’t want to do business administration. You will get zero courses that are management/operations oriented in Econ and most likely business econ as well.

It’s hard to say if a double major is difficult or not. It depends on the individual student and their inclination and ability.
