Business Admin?

I'm REALLY interested in this major at UCI, but I heard it's INSANELY difficult to get into? UCI is also the school that I would most like to go to, so instead of putting this on my major, what would be a good major (besides undeclared) that has business courses? Or should I go ahead and try putting this major down (but risk rejection?)

I really don’t think its INSANELY difficult, as I was accepted my freshman year with mediocre stats (1950 4.0 UC GPA some EC’s) as a BizAdmin.

However, if the application is any same from my year '09, then they want you to put a PRIMARY major and SECONDARY major.

It is to my knowledge that they will consider you for the second major if you are not qualified for the primary.

Okay thank you! I just heard the only accept a very small percent of incoming freshmen.

I think that it’s better to just put Bus. Admin down, because if you go with another major and can’t transfer in, then you’ll feel miserable that you can’t study what you want. I don’t think it’s that hard of a major to get into either, as I had a pretty low GPA but was still accepted. I don’t actually remember putting a secondary major on my application, which I just filled out last year, but I could be wrong.

But are there other business related majors available at irvine that I could take? I’m not too sure but what about business economics? I really dont want to get rejected because it is my top choice school sorry for all the questions!

You could also take Business Econ or Business Information Management. BIM is 1/2 business, and 1/2 informatics, which is like comp. science. If you take any of these as a major instead of Business Admin, you can also minor in accounting or management. You’ll essentially get most of the same classes as the Business Admin majors. However, business econ is a large major, so I heard the classes were slightly harder and less interesting, although that’s just an opinion. It’s not hard to get into business econ though.

Oh thank you so much!! I will definitely look into the majors you just recommended. Sorry, one more question: is BIM difficult to get in?

It certainly seems to be one of the more selective majors. They only accept 10 transfers a year, according to [undergraduate degree in business information management @ the bren school of information and computer sciences](undergraduate degree in business information management @ the bren school of information and computer sciences) which also lists the classes that you have to take in order to fulfill the major requirements.

So if I put business admin as my primary major and then business Econ as my other major choice that I am also considering on the app, will they consider me for business Econ if I don’t get business admin or will they just reject me based on business admin rejection?

They’ll consider you for Business Econ if you don’t get into Business Admin.
