Hi all,

I am a second year community college student who just completed my general education requirements for transfer. My original plan was to major in General Biology, but I found that the classes I had to take weren't to my liking. After taking an introduction to Sociology class, I found that I really loved the social sciences, but accepted that the occupational outlook for people who major in any form of social science is close to none (from what I've researched on the internet).

I was coming to a dilemma when I realized I had to sign up for classes and I did not know what major to pursue and the upper-level classes required for them. My college offers Associate in Science degree for Business Administration so I decided to sign up for classes in order to pursue my new goal. Assuming I earn the A.S. in Business Administration I get priority transfer to Cal State Schools, but I do have to figure what concentration of Business I will commit to.

Once I told my parents I intend on pursuing an Associates degree, they were all for it, but a couple days ago they told me doing that is "a mistake." I was furious, but they most likely think my major change is impulsive, but it is my current goal.

I have looked at majors that could possibly best fit my personality, I decided either Marketing or Accounting would be good options for me. I have been trying to look for internships in both fields to see how I like it before I fully commit to one or the other, but I have had no luck so far.

-What are your opinions on Marketing or Accounting majors?
-Are there better options?
-Is my decision to pursue Business Administration degree a good idea?

Thanks for any responses.
