Business Administration + Music Industry Double Major

I ran across this site a few weeks ago and noticed that there are some knowledgeable people on here, so I thought that some of you guys might be able to help me out. I just finished up my second year at community college in California and will be transferring in Fall 2007.

I initially planned on going the UC route as a business economics/economics major, and have been accepted into Cal, UCR, UCI(regents), UCSB, UCSD and rejected from my number one school UCLA. I currently have a 3.846 and a really strong internship/job in the music industry plus a decent amount of work experience. I wrote an appeal to UCLA, but they basically told me I'm not going to be getting in so Ive made USC my next top choice. I want an actual business program so I feel USC is a good school for what I'm trying to do.

I just received a letter requesting spring grades today, 5-21-07. I know that this semester I will be receiving 4 A's and 1 B in Calc II (Im taking 17 units right now). That is an improvement from my fall semester in which I got 2 Bs and 3 A's. Overall Ive taken 20 classes and received only 3 Bs. Im not too sure how to feel about my chances at getting into the Marshall program. I thought that my application was strong. Can anybody offer me any advice? Anybody who has been admitted into the program can you post your stats please?

Assuming that I get in, I was considering double majoring in either Music Industry or maybe Communications. Does anybody know the difficulty of being admitted into the Music Industry major and would it be insanely hard to get good grades? I definitely want to get out in two years as well.

If it is way too ambitious to double major, then I will minor in Music Industry, Music Recording or Marketing. Is there anything I need to know about getting into a music minor.

Thanks for the help. I'm praying that I get into USC at this point, I got in everywhere else expect UCLA. If I get in I have to be a hardcore Trojan to get back at UCLA.

About Marshall Transfer Admissions, I assume you looked at this:
http://www.marshall.usc.edu/web/Undergraduate.cfm?doc_id=3451

If you have taken the Marshall Admission Prerequisites, received at least a B in these courses, and have an overall 3.6 GPA, then you should be ok.

Maf- did you decide? Have you heard anything?

As of right now, I have received a request for spring grades. I sent in an official transcript today and I will be faxing an unofficial transcript tomorrow. The dude at the admissions office said that they prefer both official and unofficial transcripts.

The guy that I talked to from admissions said that they plan on making final decisions by mid-July which is annoying. This application process is way too long.

My grades have gone

Fall-AAAA Spring-AAAA Summer-AA

Fall2-AAABB Spring2-AAABB

Which gives me a total GPA of a 3.77. So I dont even know what to think about getting in right now. Im just praying I get in here and dont have to go to a lesser UC.

And I decided that I probably will not double major in Music Industry if I get in.

i'm in your same shoes man...probably in a worse standing though because i barely turned in an appeal to USC last week. hopefully by mid july they will have a decision in my favor. I wasn't even planning to go to USC until Fall of 2008 but my counselor told me to try and apply. I just had to write em a letter about how my military activations have affected my application process and why i wasn't able to turn in an application in time. I have all my pre-reqs for USC done and i have a 3.82....we'll see....maybe we'll see each other there.

I got in!!!! I just got my letter today when I got home from work. A huge packet and certificate welcoming me into the school. I'm really stoked that I got in and can't wait to finish my undergrad study at USC.

Good luck to you guys still waiting.

Congrats MafdetX!
