How do you become a business analyst?
Most BAs I’ve worked with didn’t get any kind of degree in the area. They often move into the role from another job within the business.
If you wanted to plan for it as a career, I’d look at maybe a management information systems type major. Look for internships as you go through school. Become proficient in Excel, Word, Visio, and PowerPoint.
The Project Management Institute (PMI) offers a certification that you might eventually want to get, too — PMI certifications can be helpful when job hunting. But typically you need to work as a BA for a while before you can sit for the exam.
You can go out on LinkedIn and search for entry level BA jobs to get a sense of what kind of skills hiring companies are looking for.
