Anyone have more information on this major? I know it's not what UCSB is known for but that honestly doesn't matter in terms of employers/grad school. I like UCSB because of the social atmosphere I just want to know if I'm gonna be getting a good education/opportunities to, well, start making some bank in the future haha

Edit: I didn’t apply to this major, I’m switching into it. I looked on the website and it’s not listed under open majors. After further research, I found it exists on some pages of UCSB but not others… So does this major exist/is it available to the incoming class (graduating 2010).

What do you want to know about it? I’m a business econ major.

You can see a straightforward list of the major requirements here (along with requirements for all other majors):
[College of Letters & Science Major and Minor Sheets (2009-2010), Office of the Registrar](404 - Page Not Found)

Oh, and an important distinction to make is that it’s not “business and economics,” it’s “business economics” - it’s basically an econ major with a required finance course. There are opportunities to take more finance courses or a few actual business courses (strangely enough, the latter is offered through the engineering department), though. There aren’t emphases on marketing, organizational behavior, and other stuff like that.

itsrichardd, this should clear stuff up (and I think what goes for transfers goes for everyone else):

THANK YOU. I was so confused. Up to date I have sent the admissions department three messages regarding my major change. Hopefully they won’t get confused. I initially put Business Economics but now I changed it to Economics and Accounting.

@flushmaverick: How available this major in terms of extracurriculars? For example: internships, working for professors, etc. Is the major sufficient enough for me to attend a fairly prestigious grad school or transfer to UCLA business after one or two years? (These are some of my selling points to my parents over why I’m choosing UCSB over UCSD, but I don’t have any evidence so far!)

Another quick question to everyone: How good is the Econ department of UCSB compared to another UC (say UCSD or something)?

would you be able to get a good job with an undergrad degree and what would the range be for the money
