Business and Medicine drop out of top 10

I believe Michigan was #7 in medicine just a few years ago

Meanwhile, law stayed out of the traditional top 7 for the second year in a row... with Berkeley joining UMich and Virginia in the tie for #8

While these rankings certainly need to be taken with a grain of salt... one can't ignore the fact that ranking changes have been for the worst in recent years... pretty much across the board.

Such a great university struggling in a miserable state :(

Yeah...I think I'm going to transfer. Lord knows I Just can't go to a school with that no longer has a top 10 B-school.

rolls eyes

hahaha well said kb...

That's weird. How can UM's undergrad business program be so good, though?

wasn't Ross was ranked #1 by the NYT last year? These US News rankings differ too much from comparable sources.

we all know that even if the rankings slip a couple pts here and there, michigan is still freakin awesome at pretty much everything lol

I wouldn't be alarmed Kazz. The Medical school was indeed #7 a couple of years ago and it was #12 a couple of years before that. Our MBA ranking according to the USNWR has ranged between #10 and #13 for the last decade or so, so that isn't strange either. BusinessWeek ranks us between #2 and #7, and the BW rankings are just as respected. Suffice it to say, Michigan's MBA program is one of the top 10 in the nation, arguably one of the top 5. Overall, one must remember that there is no difference between #5 and #10 at the graduate level. It will be interesting to see what will happen to Ross in the next 3 or 4 years, as the full effects of Stephen Ross' donation (and the University's overall fund raising campaign) are felt. I foresee Ross jumping to the top 5 or 6 in the USNWR once more.

darkamaranth88, many top MBA programs do not have undergraduate Business programs. Harvard, Stanford, Columbia, Chicago, Northwestern to name just a few. Those MBA programs are at least as good, if not better than Michigan.

grad school is fine, its the undergrad they should worry about. Michigan Law and Business school have enough tradition to at least sustain its reputation.

For the record, this is referring ONLY to graduate programs. So for the person who said Ross was in the top 3 for Business across the board, that is undergraduate degrees. Places like Harvard, Stanford, and Columbia which do not even have undergrad programs are in the top 5 for MBA's - hence, Ross' MBA isnt as highly ranked as their undergrad program.

Actually brhchs, Ross is equally regarded at the undergraduate level as they are at the graduate level. At the undergraduate level, Ross is considered one of the top 2-5 programs. At the MBA level, Michigan is considered one of the top 5-8 programs. The only BBA program that is probably considered better than Ross is Wharton and the only MBA programs that are probably considered better than Ross are Wharton, Kellogg, Harvard and maybe Stanford.

yo alexandre. u live in dubai?

Yes, I live in Dubai.
