Business Calc vs. Calc?

What exactly IS business calculus? Does it involve a bit less math (and easier) than calc. for engineering?

Why do people call it Calc for Engineering. Not just engineers take that class. Other majors need to take it as well. Like Statistics major.

I wouldn't know, but I'm going to guess that you're right, masterchiefll. Calc for engineering probably has more applications to physics and engineering in the word problems, and the business calc probably has applications to um, I guess business.

Business calc.. maybe optimization on sales, prices, and stuff? Like mosby said - calc for engineering has emphasis on math and physics. Most likely.. business calc has an emphasis on optimization of sales (consumption).. that's a guess. haha. Cheers! And - enlighten us when you find out for sure ;)

i took business calc and regular calc. calc was very formula heavy, there was a lot of math problems and whatnot, as well as applications to physics and stuff. business calc dealt primarily with applications to business. so the parts of calc that you learned were the parts that could be applied to business, and there was a ton of word problems and whatnot. basically regular calc dealt with all sorts of formulas and was very math heavy, but business calc dealt more in depth with the parts of calc that are used in business. i still have my business calc book if you want me to give you examples or anything :P

I heard business calc is calc without the trig.

is there word problems in the calculus class thats not for business? i have to take analytical geometry and calculus

fendergirl: i still have my business calc book if you want me to give you examples or anything

lol hey an example would be great. could you tell me the title/author of the textbook as well? thanks!

how do you do calculus without trig?

No trignometric functions. I took this class and is basically derivatives and antiderivatives applied to business problems. Still annoying as all hell. I have hated story problems since the fourth grade. I have no problem memorizing formulas and doing the work, I just HATE story problems. If not for those things, I would have majored in math.

Is Business Calc any easier than regular calc (at all)?

Yes, Business Calculus is Calculus I sans trigonometry.

Yes, it is easier.

in calc II we had some problems involving business like product sale amount etc...it involved differential equations and integrals...maybe business calc goes in much deeper.
