Business calculus, where to start?

Hey, I'm really really bad at math. Math is the only subject I suck at. Anyways, I probably should have taken pre-cal this year but I let my hate of math get in the way, and I didn't take it. I took algebra II in 10th grade (11th was geometry), so I'm really behind. Plus, I'm not even that good with algebra II when it comes to graphing. I just found out my college requires me to take business calculus for my business major, and I need to take a math placement test. I have a feeling ill bomb it completely. So this summer I want to study math, and I have a tutor who has a pHd in math to sort of help me along. I'm not sure where to start though, I want to buy books but I don't know which ones. So should I get algebra II to refresh, or pre-Cal, or business calculus, or all of the above? And any recommendations to any books ?

Thanks!

The good news is you are aware of your “shortcoming” and are willing to work at remedying the problem. I probably would start by getting the syllabus for the required course in Math and then review this with your Tudor to plan a strategy. Go from there with the recommendations of the Tudor. A second approach would be to contact thecollege and review your “math” issue and seek out a recommendation from them. They may have remedial math programs for students like yourself. Good luck and keep up the effort.

Thanks for the help. I looked up the specific class I had to take and the prerequisite was just Algebra, so I bought a book to help me with that, and also a pre-cal book to help me.
