I have written a draft of essay #2 if anyone wants to critique it.

Im not quite sure if that will be enough, your ECs seem a tad weak in comparison to others I have seen asking for chances. Especially since the business school at U of I is the most selective out of all the programs, I would say it is a reach. If lets say your ACT was around 33 and you had more APs I might say you could be a match.

Some people who don’t get into the business school accept into another school and then try to transfer in after their freshman year, unfortunately it doesnt always work out. Good luck!

Anyone know the qualifications to transfer into business after freshman year?

I’d say you’ll be okay. I know people who have gotten in with lower scores and higher scores. I know many people who have gotten in with mid-20 range scores from the naperville area which tends to be rather competitive, so it’s hard to say overall.

Your UW GPA is great. However, if that’s your UW GPA and you are only 40/590 that says quite a bit about the difficulty of your high school. But your ACT isn’t really up to PAR for the business school. You still have time to retake the ACT. As for your ECs… I’d say they’re about average. Bump up your ACT score and you’ll have a better chance.

You will be fine… write some good essays and you will be set!

they care a lotttttt about essays so don’t slack on those. i visited over spring break and the business deans could not stress this enough. in short, applications live and die on essays.

id say your gpa, test scores, and ECs are pretty well solidified so it would be difficult to really improve any of those in the next few months to the point where it would greatly increase your chances at the school. spend more time on the essays. or if you feel like you could increase your ACT in one more sitting then go for it in september. that’s the most i would do.

im just concentrating on the essays, although i might be in a more comfortable position with my numbers and ECs (not to sound cocky, although inevitably i do… sorry)

I made a mistake. My UW GPA is 3.89, not 3.95. Will that make a big difference?
