Business- Colgate vs Georgetown vs Holy Cross vs Lehigh

Hey so I was wondering what school would be the best route for me to take if i was planning on studying finance/business. I realize Colgate and Holy cross only have economics degree.

Any of those colleges will provide suitable launching pads into careers on Wall Street. Colgate has a powerful alumni network on Wall Street as does Holy Cross and Georgetown. As one example, Bill Glavin graduated from HC in 1980 same year as myself and is now CEO of Oppenheimer which is one of the big firms on Wall Street.

"… only have economics degree"

If you are familiar with the liberal arts track and believe that employers will select graduates who have distinguished themselves and are interesting people in their own right, you will be able to refocus your college search productively- given what I imagine you are trying to ascertain.

So… do your research, visit the schools, imagine how you will spend those 4 years, go to the source in each case. This is a personal matter and not one you can assign to a forum at all. And forget about 32 courses in the “business” sphere; that would be a colossal waste of time, effort and money in my opinion.

And good luck as you take this journey.

All of the schools are great. But if you want to go into business, I’d recommend a school that has a business program. You will go through a business core curriculum and then choose an area of interest. Economics is a great, but it is a liberal arts course of study and as such it is usually harder to get a job after college. In this difficult economic time, the people I know with econ. degrees who graduated in the last 2 years from good schools are either under-employed or unemployed.

And many would argue that the undergrad econ major is better:

Lehigh is very well recruited by the Big 4 accounting firms, should you go there.
