me too, with acct emph also. Im taking the writing 109ec class right now in the summer and I like it a lot so far.

ohh cool! so what classes r u guys takinG?

calvinator, it's good to hear that you're liking the class =), kinda relieves me 'cause ill be taking it next quarter.

I'm taking 18 units:
JAPAN 1 (5)
MATH 3B (4)
PSTAT 5E (5)
WRIT 2 (4)
(I was thinking about taking chem 1A but the textbook package costs a bit too much when I only wanted to take 1 quarter of chem)

I'm pretty much looking forward to all of them especially Japanese <33

how many units are you guys taking?

hey nicha...i m taking math 3b tooo!
so hope to see u there!

ohh i have one more Q! do we need to take writing 109?

yea, we need to, and it also applies to the Area A2 requirement which is cool =P

You will only be able to register for Writing 109EC once you have upper division standing.

What does it mean to have upper division standing? I mean, what do you have to do before you can have the upper division standing?

That is wrong, you don't need to be in upper division standing to take 109EC. Upper division standing means that you have completeled all of the pre req courses for your major. So basically:
- Econ 1 and 2
- Econ 3A and 3B
- Pstat 5E/ or 210A
- Math 3A/B or 34A/B (calculus)
Once you show proof to the econ department, they will allow you to register for upper division courses.

If you look in GOLD, it says one of the prerequisites is upper-division standing.

Upper division standing means that you are a junior or senior (84 units). It does not mean that you have completed all of the prereqs for your major. In fact, even though Writing 109EC is a prereq for Business Economics, you can declare the major without taking it yet.

The Economics department doesn't have anything to do with registering for Writing 109EC. The upper division economics classes don't require upper division standing, only that you are in the full major (not pre-business economics... etc).

So you can take the upper division econ courses once you've completed the pre-major requirement, but you have to wait until you're a junior to take WRIT 109EC?

Yeah! i was not allowed to take upper division courses! cuz i didnt complete all the lower division courses!

I just check in the general catalog and found that none of the upper division econ courses had WRIT 109EC as a prereq, so I guess it doesn't matter when you're gonna take it _

hey nicha89! whats ur full name?!

nicha cygnel
